but the 5ghz club was all about Pentium prosessors.. not C2D.
monkeyBite said:Hey everyone.....been reading the forums for a while now, but this is my first post with my new rig.....finally broke 4Ghz on air!!
Specs
CPU: E6600 L632A120 *Retail*
Motherboard: Asus P5W-DH (stock board cooling except for AS5 on NB/SB)
Memory: 2 x 1GB Corsair PC8500
PowerSupply: OCZ GameXStream 700W
Cooling: Zalman CNPS9500 HSF (booooooo)
Screenie S_PI 1M @ 4004Mhz:

Some of my experiences getting to 4Ghz:
-Had to switch to 4:3 mem divider to get SuperPi to run, even though I know that my memory is capable of the speeds at 1:1 (I run 4:5 usually with the ram running at over 1000Mhz)
-vCore jumps helped out all along the way, 1.65 vCore in BIOS (reading 1.64-1.65 in SpeedFan)
-My load temps hit 69 degrees, which I clearly won't be running at normally, not on this crap Zalman heatsink....but it does the job just fine @ lower vCores
I have to say that this is my first overclocked machine, and I'm pretty ecstatic to have hit 4Ghz! It took a lot of tweaking (most importantly loosening tRFC and tRD timings), but clearly it's been worth it.

Yeah, I know I need to add a fan to the NB, just been too busy to pick up a 40mm one...don't have any lying around. I had extra fans in the case though (and a little ghetto-rigged) to make sure that air was moving over the NB and the SB. I should have said that along with the AS5 I removed the silly heatsink covers, but that's almost for granted. I was feeling it every once in a while to gauge a rough estimate and it wasn't scorching.
I am also hoping that adding a fan to the NB will allow me to run a little faster 24/7 at lower voltages and temps there.

All of this showing off of late is making me pull out my screenies as well...
