I have noticed that there really aren't any resources that directly explain how to edit/add flags. I figured I'd explain how to do it in depth.

Console not run as a service:

Create a shortcut to the FAH console.exe.
(I usually just make one and leave it in the same folder as FAH is)
Then, right click on the shortcut you made and select "Properties."
shortcut-properties.jpg

Now you will get the properties dialog box and you can set the flags at the end of the path:
flagsexample.jpg

FAH run as a service (console 5.02 & 5.04; Wedo's Oneclick):

You can edit the registry by going to the start menu/run:
start-run.jpg

Now type in "regedit" and hit ok:
run-regedit.jpg

Now the registry editor will open up. Browse to:
HKEY_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Services
Path-regedit.jpg

For those using Wedo's "OneClick":

Scroll Down a bit to FAH/Parameters
Path2-regedit.jpg

Double click on AppParameters, You can now edit the flags:
RegEditFlags.jpg

For those using Stanford's FAH Console version 5.02:
Scroll Down a bit to FAH&path/Parameters
Where path is the location where you have your console exe file located. For example here is mine:
FAHConsoleFlagLocation.jpg

Now double click on ImagePath and you will have this box come up:
ImagepathFlagEditing.jpg

You may now edit/add flags to the startup path in this manner:
AddingFlagsFAHConsoleService.jpg

For those using Stanford's FAH Console version 5.04

When I was trying to figure this out I was confused that I found my flags in several different "ControlSets"... this is the key I use and it hasn't failed me yet. Don't change them all... just CurrentControlSet.

Yes, I forgot to add that in here, Thanks. (I'll even underline it :) )

good work Gary

@THF, Dark15 ... this would be a good thread to add a link from the uber sticky work in the "how to" section

The forum needed such a guide that's easy to follow. ...really an excellent reference for folders of all ages. :D The use of screenies is very effective... "Nice job garynator!"

Thanks guys! I know how frustrating it was not to have any documentation on how to do this, so i figured i'd help out some new members/future members by making it somewhat easier to find.

Very nicely done.

Now, what flags for what?

Say I have an Intel P4 yatta yatta whatever. And I want QMDs only.

What flags do I set to get only QMDs?

Do I use -advmethonds? Do I use Bigpackets=yes?

Say I have a 1 ghz AMD, or Celeron & want to run Timeless Tinkers.

How do I set the Flags for that?

Ok, I have a 2.0Ghz machine, 512mb memory.

Recommendations on how to set it up?

I don't mean to be a pain, but this would be a great idea for helping new members.

As for linux, I can't do that, anyone want to add linux coverage to this thread? (i'll add it to my first post so it's all in one spot.)

Thanks for the input guys.

Put some glue on this thing and make it a Sticky.

I wish this was around when I started folding. It took me a month to figure out how to change the flags. :bang head
