Definitions:
OEM: Orignal Equipment Manufacturer, it comes in nothing but the CPU itself, tends to be cheaper due to it's simple packaging. But it requires you to buy a aftermarket heatsink and/or fan.
Retail: Comes in it's original box that looks all nice and everything. Comes with a standard stock AMD heatsink and fan. Retails may be a tad more expensive then OEM CPUs, except the stock heatsinks and fans aren't recommend for the enthusiast sector.

Monarch now has the 165 for $270, these things fluxuate more than the price of gold.
WTF!

I waited and waited... felt like I jumped on this stuff at the right time, and whataya know it still drops!!!

GAH

I already have a 144 but want to be a guinea pig for that new CACJE stepping. But that 270 is hard to pass up for a 165.

>.<

T'would be nice to have steppings listed from the vendors, but I know that's asking too much. I wouldn't mind having a nice 144 as a backup to my 148.

Nice compilation!

The 165 OEM from monarch that I bought last week and received this passed Monday was a CBBWE 0545 CPBW... haven't OCed it yet.

The 165 OEM ($270.63) @ Monarch was posted on FW . Grab one before they are gone .

Mwave also has the retail box 165 for $325 and in stock , LINKY

Nice list there Dark , thx .

I really thought about buying this opteron 165 @ 270 again, but that's it... I'm not playing with opteron marketing anymore.

It's F-ing ridiculous what monarch is doing.

Less than 2 weeks ago, they had the 165 OEM for $299.63 and wrote "LIMITED TIME OFFER 24 HOURS... PRICE WILL GO BACK UP!"

**** monarch... they and newegg are still vendors of mine, but on my ****list. If any place has something for a few bucks more, I'm shopping there from now on.

Monarch is playing with numbers... lying and calling it "specials" and then jacking up prices the next day to make it look like it was a good price. Then, a week later they drop it below any price they ever had.

I know they are there to make money, but don't treat a ****ing processor like it's the stock market.

(That felt much better)

They do treat these things like comodities, but who can blame them? The fanboys DO create a demand. Having said that, I see that the Opteron 148 is going for $207 which seems like an awesome deal.

Updated as of this post.

Not much price changes, some vendors dropped by as much as $20 to match with other vendors, but overall I only see a average of $5.00 drop.

what you should list is who's in stock and who isn't :D Mwave 144 is in stock, but almost everywhere is out of 146.

i payed $350 for my 170 oem from monarch. 50 bucks less than the retail. that price was only around a week or less though. surprised more people didnt hop on it then.

I got my 170 for like ~$373 shipped from monarch... It does around 2.6-2.7 on stock volts (haven't figured it out yet), but I run it daily at 2.75ghz 1.48v.
