Folks,

I am attempting to present basic stable settings for this board, in a structured manner. There are millions of BIOS'es floating around and it is very hard for a newcomer to do a trial and error type thing. I have been struggling for two days to even install XP without getting a BSOD soon after.

You can cut/paste this format:
Last Updated:
Motherboard:
BIOS:
RAM and Genie BIOS settings:
CPU and Genie BIOS settings:
Video Card and Drivers used:
NF4 Chipset Driver version:

Extra information/comments/warnings:

PLEASE READ WHAT CHIPS THE SETTINGS ARE FOR, BEFORE YOU TRY THEM!
SETTINGS ARE CHIP/MEMORY MODULE SPECIFIC!!!!

Use the format in the text file after editing out my settings :)

*****************************

Please keep this on topic and uncluttered.

Thanks everybody!

New settings with 512 x 2 PDP XBLK (TCCD)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm using the 3/10 BIOS as you suggested. Orange slots. It owns :D
3/10 definitely better than 2/25. With the same settings, I was able to enter the memtest screen at DDR650! But with the 3/25, I could not POST at DDR600.Memtest stable @DDR610 but since my CPU bottlenecks this RAM, I have to settle for DDR570 :(

Last Updated:April 30, 2005
Motherboard: Lanparty Ultra-D
Bios: 3-10 official release
CPU: 3500+ NC
VC: XFX 6600GT 71.89, Video BIOS version 5.43.02.57
OS: Windows XP Home w/SP2
Ram: PDP XBLK PC3200 (TCCD) In the #2 and #4 (Orange) Dimm slots
Chipset Drivers: Revision 6.39 (w/out IDE or Firewall Drivers)

DRAM Timings:
  • Ram Multi 200 1:1
    CPC ENABLED
    Tcl 2.5
    Trcd 04
Tras 08 *Edit: 10 for Prime95 Blend stability*
Trp 03 *Edit: 4 for Prime95 Blend test stability*
    Trc 11
    Trfc 22
    Trrd 02
    Twr 03
    Twtr 02
    Trwt 03
    Tref 3120
    Twcl 01
    Bank Inter EN
    Dynamic Skew Control Auto (Off)
    Skew Value 0
    DRAM Drive Strength 07
    DRAM Data Drive Strength 02
    Max Async 8ns
    Read Preamble 5ns
    Idle Cycle 256
    Dynamic Counter DIS
    R/W Que Bypass 16X
    Bypass MAx 7X
    32 Bit Gran DIS

Voltages etc:

  • HTT 285
    LDT X3
    Cpu Multi X9
    PCE-I 100
    Vcore Startup 1.525
    Vcore 1.525
    Vcore Special 110%
    LDT V 1.3
    Chipset V 1.7
    Vdimm 2.9

Extra Notes and observations:

  • - If TWCL was set to 02 instead of 01, I had to reset the CMOS. TWCL always at 01

    - Dynamic counter is best left disabled, otherwise I got massive amounts of Test #5 errors (718 to be precise)!

    - If Trrd differed from Trwt, there was no POST. Both should be the same value.

    - Number of errors decreased when I tuned off the full screen logo and USB. I believe disabling extra unused perephiral devices aids in improving stability

    - Data Drive strength HAD TO be set to level 2. This is a very critical parameter.

-If Twtr was set to 01/03 instead of 02, there was no BOOT.

-The single most critical parameter to my hitting DDR600 without errors in memtest was changing Tref from 4078 to 3120.

Note: It is VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT that you notice what memory each person is using. Different memory will require different DRAM settings for maximized speeds.

Extra information/comments/warnings:
Tref is one of the most important settings on this board. It has a slight affect on bandwidth but an even bigger one on stability. If you are having some problems raising the HTT/FSB, I would recommend a value of 3632 or 1168. Check the 3DMark score links in my sig for score + bandwidth/latency screenshots on how this setup performs.

Edit: My Redline can do 262MHz with 3,3V but now I'm only trying to get the most out of my Venice, and that's why I had to drop the memclock a bit. Still from the Venice, can't do even 2400MHz with default vcore so I think this is one has been taken from the crappy box or something. I am usually using water to cool this system but now I'm using the boxed cooler.

BTW*
Thats some serious pwnage with the Venice

houserat you have sp AA4t ch or 1a4t bh? EDIT your post and I'll find it. When I get my venice stable I'll edit this to reflect the changes that i make.

Mods make this sticky.

Yeah, this is sticky material. I'm so glad we have this thread here b/c I've been messing with the timings for so long, and still have to understand them better. I actually JUST sold my TCCD b/c I am using my TwinMOS UTT again, and also have OCZ VX 4000 coming to me today. :)

Anyways, here is what the TCCD was at before I got rid of it:

Chipset Voltage : 1.6v

I had to write this up with my memory b/c I just mailed out the TCCD today. Let me check the CMOS saved banks tonight to check what it was at b/c I want to make sure. I also tried my Patriot on 510-3 without probs, and also the 310p.

Finally got mines stable. It isn't the best, but I'm satisfied with it for now...

Any suggestions on better settings? If I adjust the tWCL, then my comp wont post.
Trp and Trcd any lower then I get errors in memtest. I checked DFI-Street and seems my chip is a bad OC'er, but Im surprised I even OC'd it that far...

EDIT* Ok, tried some more but no go still. I only got 5 more out of the fsb. Im stable with memtest at 245, but thats with really loose timings (2.5-6-6-15)
