Attached is a Word File with the listing of the Power supplies and specs. I would ask all those through today 3/2 to delete your posts because I have added them.

What to Look/Avoid

What to Look For
  • at least 28A on the 12V Rail
  • Avoid split rails on the NCCH-DL, 2 is okay, but some have had issues with them
  • Adaptors can be used

After looking after power suplies, I noticed that sometimes a companies 460watts is almost the same as the 500w or 550w, except, the 5v rail have a few more amps, but the 12v rails are identical. I am mostly looking at the 12v rails.
OCZ 520W ModStream PSU its not exactly eps12v but it offers alot for its price.
520W: +3.3V(28A), +5V(52A), +12V(28A)
Around $130cdn.
Thanks

No EPS12v, meaning no SMP... That PSU wont work bro

Well that PSU will work in PC-DL's and NCCH-DL's since they do not need a EPS unit to run properly. Also there is a spot for the PSU in the thread list, but the title of the thread would suggest it should not belong. So I spose this is kinda confusing.

Sorry for kickin in, I taught I had it covered, but I am wrong.
Thanks

Well you were not totally wrong since most of us here are using the PC-DL or NCCH-DL which that PSU will power no problem.

While you may not have to use an EPS12v power supply, it is recommended.
I have also used a PCP&C 510 deluxe (ATX) with a 20-24pin and 4-8pin convertor successfully with dual 2.4ghz Xeons at 3.5ghz....here is where I got the adaptor: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-183-045&depa=0

Adrock, i've heard that using non EPS PSU will give you problem with CPUs over 3.0ghz. Can you confirm this for me? I know what you have bro ;)

dicecca112: if i remember correctly this is the same power supply that you have been using. I have been running it for only two weeks, so i cant attest to how long it will last, however, it runs my rig with no issues. I did actually add another fan to the front exterior of the PS, to improve the cooling of the unit. Before i did this, my IWT's would sort of "surge" at full load and a warm room temp, but immediatly after i added the fan the surging stopped.

I used the Enermax EG465P-VE FM 3-in-1 for my old dual 2.5/[email protected] GHz setup and am currently using the AMS Mercury Model PP-4603 EPS. The specs have been listed by others already, but I just wanted to confirm that these supplies have been rock solid with my various PC-DL setups.

I understand, im curious how well this PS will last running this dually rig full tilt folding for long periods of time. Im actually still temped to get the single rail version and hopefully avoid any potential problems.

Had the -PLN with dual rails, ran my rig fine for about 2-3 weeks. I thought instability was caused by the dual rails, however I purchased the -PLG and it made no difference. Voltages very stable under full load running prime95 or folding for hours (with either PSU - tested with a multimeter).

The -PLG seems to get warmer than the -PLN though.

if anyone has HTML Skills and can encode that word file so that I can include it in the post that would be great.

Here's the html version of it. I hope its what you want.
