Thoughts on a Sony LCD for Gaming?

I'm looking into purchasing my first LCD screen. My general uses consist of websurfing, word processing, and pretty heavy gaming. At the moment, I'm big into games such as UT2k4, HL2, D3, etc. Anyhow, I'd really like to pick up an LCD monitor to add to my setup. I have taken the time to do some necessary research, and have concluded that it's probably in my best interests to look for something with no more than a 16ms response time and DVI compatibility. Currently, I have my eyes on this Sony LCD, and I would greatly appreciate any advice that you may have. As I stated earlier, I'm pretty big into gaming, and I will not tolerate any dead pixels/ghosting of any sort. Thanks for your time.

Thanks so much for the heads up. Currently, I just want to make sure I can get a good LCD without suffering a terrible loss in IQ or ghosting. Once, again, thanks for the advice and any further comments are appreciated.

Sony has another LCD out that has a new type of screen filter. I think it's called x-bright or something like that. I saw one at Best Buy and it looked incredible. Check that monitor out before you make a decision.

what about this? It has 12ms response time, but it's not a Sony. The lower price of the sony does seem to be of an advantage. Let us know how it does if you get it.

I've found other, more expensive monitors, but I was hoping to try and find something that will suit my needs under $400. Perhaps I need to sight tight and wait for LCD technologies to mature before I make my choice.

You know, I am in the same boat as you. I am affraid I can't wait any longer though. That sony would be perfect, IMO, specially considering the fact that it is well under 400 bones. I won't purchase mine until the tax check comes around, but I definitely know that I don't have to settle for a 17in in order to get a good response time LCD.

I would like to look more into the monitor that invisible hand mentioned though, that sounds a bit interesting.

Hrm, definitely worth a look. And the good news is that my woman has a job at Circuit City. This might be the perfect time to take advantage of that typically-weak discount...
