No matter what is dropped, cpu multi, htt multi, ram timings i cant get past 240 fsb on a8v with fx-53. I have a 550 psu, ocz 4200 el plat ram. water chiller to keep cpu at -5.
i can achieve 240x12 with 1.7vcore but i would really like to get 260-275 x12.
Im not using sata controllers, scsi on pci.
if i dont get any sudgestions im going to do a vcore mod and see if like 1.9vcore would get me higher.
this is also the 2nd set of ram in the comp first was 3200el plat rev. 2 which didnt get above 240 either...

Maybe we both got bad mem controller ? im stucked at 240 HTT too

seems strange since the mem controller is on the cpu chip and we have different cpus....

Its not the memory controller. You may have pushed the mem as far as it can go. Try DDR333 i.e 5:6. Keep VDimm at 2.8V.

its not the ram, the ram is rated for ddr533 at 2.5-3-3-8, and the old ram i had has overclocked faster, so its the board or the cpu .... but the other guy has a different cpu.

WOW , i'm stuck at 240FSB as well. I'm watercooling my CPU and my ram is not a problem , that is for sure. I'm using BIOS that came with my mobo which i think is 1007 or something like that. I'm downloading 1009 right now , hopefully it'll work better. my cpu is A64 3200+ (939). At 2400mhz it's rock stable but i cant even get to the windows in anything over 2400. Temperatures are at around 30C idle , 35C full load.

Wally, what are your system specs?

This is turning out to be an epidemic! So many ppl stuck at 240MHz?????

What is the common denominator? The BIOS?

Guys, please post your board serial #'s. I'll try to find out if boards with certain #'s have a problem.

Nade , in my case it must have been old BIOS. I'm now running 6th hour of prime running at 270FSBx9. 1009.4 seems to help a lot. I couldnt even get to the windows at 245FSBx9 before. I"m gonna shoot for 280 - 285 ...as long as i hit 2.5Ghz , i'm happy.

1009.004 bios

i tried installing the 1009.004 bios, but havent had time to drop the cpu multi and check it, but i still could get 241x12 and even 235x12 didnt seem rock solid ... still gets a prime95 roundoff error once and awhile. if i could get 270x11 i would jump for joy since my water chiller should allow it.

Wally:

You should easily be able to hit atleast 2.6 if your temps are good i.e < 50 C Load.
Your Winchester (I assume) does run a lot cooler than my Newcastle, so 2.6 Should be no problem. Just don't exceed 1.7 V to be safe.

For all error/stability testing read this guide first and use Prime properly as given there.

Bios 1009.004 her also..thing is cant boot if i set htt higher than 240.
Yes i have tried 5:3 1:1 and 2:1 even with only 1 mem stick...
I did a test with 245x7= no go l?!
:attn:

ldt

i use 4x normally but have tried 3x and that didnt help. Mine will boot, but it will give mem test errors at 241 and i have 4200el ram. even with 3-4-4-10 i get errors so im thinking its the board since this is the 2nd set of ram and i dont think its my fx-53 since i can increase multi and not have a problem,
ie 240x10 ok
241x10 bad
240x12 ok

Sen, the LTD doesn't seem to matter too much in my case. I'm at 5x and rock solid stable @ 257 x 10. Worth a try anyway.

Also guys I hope you have engaged the PCI/AGP locks to 66/33.

i have tried that and it has made no difference from the 75.4/66 lock that is also listed

ide love to check the northbridge to see the information on it but its insulated, since my chiller will cause condensation, and i dont want to remove it now ... maybe over x-mas time though.
