What review site do you use these days?

Just curious, when you are deciding whether to buy a game or not, do you jump over to Gamespot or IGN? Gamespy? 1UP? I don't know, there seems to be tons of them out there, so which is one that provides game reviews you trust the most?

I usually check on gamespot and ign. Not that I like them most but it's more like a habit or something. Gamespot's score is usually little lower than ign, but they go extreme from time to time, where they give super high or super low scores to games that don't actually deserve. IGN is more modest, although it makes mistakes, too.

Some all-time classic like Diablo II scored fairly low on both of sites. IGN gave it 8.0 or something, and on the "replay value" aspect, they gave it 6 or 7, and stated "i never want to go back to play it again after first run through" or something like that. What a laughable review. Guess they were still young then and inexperienced.

Gamespot gave Assassin's Creed a 9 but that game should get an 8 maximum due to its repetitiveness. They also gave NBA live10 a higher score than 2K10. Man how rediculous. I started suspecting what kind of deal they have with EA.

Well, no matter how much complain I have towards these sites, i guess I still need them. Just to get a general idea of a game.

I don't really trust review sites, I'd rather read up on comments on a forum.

I usually start at metacritic.com and read the summary from each review site and then move to specific reviews if I want more information. Also, I subscribe to PC Gamer magazine.

I start at Metacritic as well. Read over summaries or breakdowns (on sites which have them) and then read the negative reviews as well. Forum comments and asking friends who have a similar taste.

I look out for Gametrailers Video reviews as well. I don't go after their ratings, but their pros and cons are usually backed up by events in the game so it seems fairly accurate to me.

Metacritic for new games, if it is an old one I want to find out about, usually just gamespot or IGN.

I like to use Gamespot... But they are notorious for being console fanboys.

Don't really need a review site to figure out how good a game is going to be. If you're really into gaming, chances are all of the information you mulled over during the 2+ years of development has probably already convinced you one way or the other on how much you'll like the game. For instance, I knew, hands down, that I would love GTA4 for the PC, which is why I purchased it without even giving it a shot. I've never had a gaming purchase regret before.... (looks down and thinks) At least not that I can remember.

And if you can play a demo, then that really makes the reviews unnecessary.

But, with that said, I do enjoy watching those video reviews. I don't know why, I just enjoy them.

I like ign.com you can even get a video review on most games there too. Only bad thing is the commercial pages.

Gamespy (has a lot of editors from 1UP/CGW/GFW/EGM), Gamespot, and meta critic for the reviews (not the scores as the numbers aren't scaled properly in a lot of situations).
