The single player sucks. They really went out of their way to cater to the 14 year olds with short attention spans. And the plot is nonexistant.

Multiplayer sucks, big time. Huge, huuggggggeee lag. When you get killed have a look at the killcam, I see 2 second delays on average from when I start shooting from the change in perspective. FPS games NEED dedicated servers.

Going back to the PC vs Console piracy stuff - apparently MS just banned 1 million Xboxs (not just accounts) this week for modded piracy. O.o

Quite apparently console piracy isn't as low as I thought...kind of throws the PC piracy argument for a loop.

From things I've read/heard/seen in person , a large percentage of console pirates have at least 2 - Xbox360s , one of which is modded and never goes online.

So far PC versions of MW2 have wall hackers now, and the PS3 version doesn't have enough multiplayer servers. *face palm*

No it isn't. The PC is just easier to target and admitting that your own, closed platform is easily open to piracy is a lot more painful than admitting your own, open platform is easily open to piracy.

Piracy of MW2 on the Xbox is projected to be more than that of the PC apparently.

I bet most of those banned consoles were those outside NA. Console piracy (Xbox 360) is almost as huge as PC piracy. Its just not that common in North America as in other countries so PC gamers everywhere are the target. Still there are people who can privately do this for you (I even saw such ads on kijiji/craigslist in Canada). I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link here to back up my statement ?

The thing is, in many other countries there is no law stopping people from modifying the consoles. People are switching to consoles because they can easily modify the consoles and burn the games themselves coz they feel PC gaming hardware is too expensive.

No need for the link, it is pretty common knowledge now that those adds exist on places like craigslist.

Also, I have seen more and more rampant console piracy as of late just by the people that live around here. You go visit some guy you work with and he has hundreds of games that he *keeps* on his xbox hard drive. And all he does is just rent from gamefly or other such places locally. Kinda sad, especially when companies point their screaming finger at us PC gamers for all their problems. (and no, not like we are helping out own image anyways.)

Very true. Its high time MS and devs start realizing the amount of piracy on consoles as well and not solely delay every other game or dumb down franchises like Call of Duty on the PC due to piracy. And devs like EA putting out lame ports for FIFA because according to their survey the majority of PC gamers don't have hardware that could handle the console ports of FIFA

i believe all console game developers feel that $4000 PC's are required to be able to experience their games on a PC in the exact way its experienced on a console, hence why so few games are ported well.

The only 2 good console ported game's I've played this year are Batman AA, and Red Faction Guerrilla. Even then I still have to use a 360 controller on my PC. :/

Good review of the game
http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/pc/games...ern-Warfare-2/

Pretty much sums up all the feelings I had about the game. I honestly feel regret on wasting time on the single player.

My PC has been largely unchanged for 2 years now. 8800GT > 9800GTX+ wasn't a huge boost. Still runs all my games well and I've yet to see anything in the near future that would require me to upgrade.

RF shouldn't be counted as a good port imo. Batman AA, yes. The best of em all being Resident Evil 5.

Which is obvious bull****, considering console hardware is from the NV 7000/ATI 1800 era.

Blame the magazine and internet venues that cater to the console crowd. If you read a large majority of their articles, they practically preach the notion that PC gamers are elitists, demanding, and all have 4000$ machines, which is the only way you can play games on the PC. Rather disgusting and retarded method of writing. But it gets site visits, and magazine subscriptions. Always all about having the hit, or contraversial story.

I will buy it on some promotion. 60€US/$89.72 for such a minuscule single-player game is ridiculous.

And how many PCs were banned for piracy? None.
PC piracy will always be higher because there is no punishement. Sure, console piracy will get higher with time.

The game is full of hacks already:

I haven't played yet, but that is what I have heard about a lot of reviews. Although his lag problem probably has something to do with being from Kiwi and not playing near enough of the other players.

How about 60+$60 gift card? I'd take that.

EDIT:

Activision seems to be planning pay-for-services for all their online-capable titles, including COD franchise. So the reason for IWNet finally gets confirmed.

Activision Hints at Call of Duty Online Plans
Gamers demanding additional services and innovations, publisher says.

The online business models for many of Activision's key franchises could start to change in the near future.

During today's BMO Capital Markets Conference, CFO of Activision Blizzard Thomas Tippl was asked if the successful World of Warcraft online business model will ever translate into the publisher's other major franchises, such as Guitar Hero and Call of Duty. While Tippl said WoW's model is difficult to replicate, players should expect new montization models for its other titles soon enough.

"It's definitely an aspiration that we see potential in, particularly as we look at different business models to monetize the online gameplay," said Tippl. "There's good knowledge exchange happening between the Blizzard folks and our online guys."

"We have great experience also on Call of Duty with the success we had on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. A lot of that knowledge is getting actually built into the Battle.Net platform and the design of that," he added. "I think it's been mutually beneficial, and you should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetization models of some of some of our biggest franchises like Call of Duty."

ah well, I finally played the campaign , it was NOT the same quality as MW1 was. story seemed very loosely connected to the scenes.

gameplay was solid, but the story seemed very shock and awe...

imho , not worth more than a rent , till a price drop to 30$ or less.
