help me to oc my i7 860
hello all i am new here found this site looking for help on overclocking my gaming pc to the best it can go within its limits. my set up as follows Samsung SM2433BW 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor corsair 800d corsair h50 Intel Core i7 860 2.80Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1156) Asus Maximus III Formula Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard ASUS ROG OC Station XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card x2 Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply Samsung SpinPoint F3 1tb SATA-II 32MB Cache x1 Crucial M225 64GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive x1 LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter x1 G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Dual Channel 120mm Enermax UCMA12 Magma TWISTER Fan (M.B.T.) Batwing Blades 1.5k RPM x5 140mm Xigmatek XLF-F1453 LED 1000 RPM and 63.6 CFM and 16 dBA x2 been running on stock for the last two weeks or so playing arma 2 fairly well without any problems all on full settings,so i know it can run ok but as always its nice to see how far it will go before it either gets unstable or it hits the temps to high. i have read and read so many ideas of oc'ing this chip its all gone over my head and to be honest i rather have that personal touch of a real person helping me,i understand that two chips are never the same for volts ect but a starting block would be a great help that i would only need to increase or decrease the volts if needed. sorry if this is a long post just thought i try and explain it all cheers and looked forward to your help. |

first: welcome to the forums! i think the lack of response would be because this is an Intel CPU question in the General CPU sub-forum. Read the sticky 'This is not a catch-all'. if you re-posted this exact thread in the Intel section of the CPU forum you would most certainly get a response. also check out the stickies for general overclocking principles in the intel forum...will give you a good base.
