Hey Jake whats Media player are you using?
Altho may have to program it directly to the master volume controll, there could be a shortcut.

I can't for the life of me find out the commands used to controll the volume in vista (as it was changed from XP). I know its out there because programs adjust it using other keys and shortcuts, but without seeing the code i could spend all day geussing. so if you just want it for a media player it should be ALOT ez'er then controlling the "simple volume".

you have a KB without volume controls? Did not know they still made them

Absolutely essential if you game and run WMP at the same time like me

Here are the KB shortcuts for WMP in Mojave

Tells you if the WMP must be active window or not as well

Ya I have a crappy usb keyboard and mouse which are very comfortable and I don't feel I need to fork out another £20 for something I already have for the sake of some more buttons.

I use iTunes not WMP, and I'm looking for the shortcut to control my whole system volume not just one application.

Looks like you will need to install an app like 3RVX

O you dont HAVE to have F1 and F2? haha aww man, wish i woulda knew that. here i am digging way into IAudioEndpointVolume API Commands and such.

The quick fix that is small and simple is right here:

http://www.softarium.com/soundvolumehotkeys/

Hold down your windows Key while pressing up arrow for volume up or down for volume down. (*should work on vista 7 as the Simple Volume codeing is the same as Vista)
*3RVX seems to use alot of volume just for a simple controll heard bad things about it.

You will be able to find bigger apps around that are programable to other keys, Altho its always going to be a combo such as Shift or Ctr + a key you want.
Dealing with JUST F1 F2 for all of windows volume is a MUCH more complicated thing, tho if you are playing games or using a media player just check out the options menues you can ussally hotkey programs volumes.

If you still have anyquestions, let me know. im still going to look into the F1 F2 challange.
