Yeah too bad I won't win anything most of you guys are running circles around me now. If I only had money then I'd try going after ChasR.

I have plans for a full rack mount closet with chemist style hood vent sucking all the air out and into the attic. I'm rather sure I have the room for 2 racks running multiple 2 - 4U rigs

The folding contest will be held after the Rosetta contest this has already been worked out in advance.

Signups for the contest start Monday or tuesday...
It's going to be alot more simplified than last time and alot more fun.

How is the current release of the ATI F@H client? last time I tried it it made my computer horribly unstable and was also only running on my crappy video card.

Good question. Another question would be, what is required to run a GPU client on both cards? The last time I researched the topic, I think taking them out of X-fire was necessary, and possibly using a dummy plug? How can you tell I've never run an ATI GPU client?

Works fine for me. Not optimized well at all for ATI cards, but my 4830 still manages 2500ppd or so. No instability (though without ramsinks on a sapphire 4830 you can forget it).

I have been looking for a reason to dial in a few systems that have been idle. Maybe add another dual Xeon 16core MacPro for the bigadv luvin, 2 video cards that have been sitting idle, the q6600 in production vmware server... and maybe a few others that can be borged.

If only I could find a descent cooler that would fit in my tiny HTPC case... Then the E8500 at would be back in action.

Have you tried the Scythe Ninja-Mini?

Keeps my stock E8400 in an Antec Fusion at ~50C under WinSMP load... this is also in a confined space, not much fresh air.

I have the NSK 1380 case linked below. Great quiet case, but very little room to work.
http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=MzA=

I believe I have less than 70mm of overhead between the CPU and the PSU that overhangs the socket. Ninja Mini wont fit. The stock HSF barely fits in there and makes poor contact (E8500 stock ~50C idle).
I was going to get a Shuriken but Newegg doesn't seem to carry them anymore. I may have to look in to the "Big Shuriken" but that isnt available at the moment either and may not have room to fit on the micro-ATX board. Big IGP heatsink and RAM may get in the way. I think the Zalman 7xxx or 8xxx might fit, but I dont want to go Zalman if at all possible.

I have another case lying around, but I dont think the wife would want a mid-tower in the living room next to the other media components...

What size are you looking for for that htpc? Because alpha novatech has 2U and 4U passives with copper bases. However it may depend on what they have vs the socket you need.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread... Sorry bout that.

I am not super comfortable with dremmel or hacksaw, so modding a HSF might not be the best option for me.

Super Excited for the new contest / video / folding campaign!

I am not running crossfire, I have a 4870 and a 3650. The 2nd one is basicly there for the sole purpose of providing outputs for the 3rd and 4th monitors.

I might have to try it again, since it has been a few months.

20K PPD is really good. I'm averaging 8,600 PPD yet I'm at 110th place on the team out of 445 active members.

I wish I could throw money at my system but too many real life things going on. Holidays, buying a house, looking for a car. But I'll keep my system cranking along as always. There is room for further overclocking and I am still using a stock cooler. Small upgrades may be in order.

Was folding on a 4870 24/7 until a week or so ago. No stability issues at all. Only issue was ppd vs nvidia.

You will need to set GPU environment variables though.
