Shattered Horizon, putting every new rig on the test?

Dunno if u guys have known this game yet. General gamers may have never heard of Futuremark game studio, but I know a lot of u guys did. Yes, it's the one that made 3DMark. This is the very first game they made.

They just recently annouced the system requirement:
http://www.shatteredhorizon.com/support/
Man that's the HIGHEST minimum req i've ever seen.

So far I like the idea of setting, and the zero G environments that have the potential to tweak around. I can't have enough of that Alien ship level in Crysis. I hope it comes with a strong SP campaign, since so far the information focuses on MP.

They say it's coming later this year or early next year. I'd be surprised if it arrives within this year tho.

I might have to keep tabs on it, I love sci fi games. While the video requirements are high, I am surprised a how low the hard disk space requirement is. The graphics look pretty good to be although I stopped really caring about graphics much about 2004, as long as a game has hi res textures I am happy.

If you've previously purchased a FutureMark benchmark product, you can get 25% off the pre-order and early access to additional levels.

Yea, the graphics didn't super wow me either. But the physics/gravity looks amazing.

I think what your seeing here is technical software gurus trying to meet a game like world, it seems as if their artists arent up to par. Regardless this is beta and anything can happen, for all we know it may end up a 2D Puzzle game.

LOL a 2D puzzle game requiring a 8800+. SOLD!.

In all seriousness, im somewhat excited to see how they will pull this off and if it will be a decent game or a benchmark with some button mashing.

I have not used 3dmark in quite a while, but I remember back when they released 3dmark 03 and 3dmark 05 wishing that games looked that good.

It seems from their web site you get it through steam no matter how you purchase.

I remember when this was announced, it was met with much skepticism. It looks nice though and at $17.99, I may give it a try. I have a sinking feeling that despite the posted sysreqs, the rig in my sig is gonna cry; it always does on Futuremark products!

At least now people can't say 3D Mark doesn't mean anything because it's a synthetic benchmark. Now futuremark has an actual game that can be benchmarked.

Sure they can, and it still is. 3dmark06 and below are completely meaningless in terms of gaming performance on a modern rig, but Vantage certainly gives a good general indication of what you can expect.

Been playing it for about an hour, all settings maxed at 19*12. Still feels like the graphics are turned down. Combat is interesting.

I got this game the day after it came out, because I wanted a game I could get into that would really push my system. It's a lot of fun, I don't have any complaints. I've seen a few different complaints, but I don't agree with them.

I've only got one friend that has a system that can run it, and at $20 I think I'll be able to convince him to get it, and if not I'd be willing to gift it to him on Steam, it's definitely the first FPS that I've been able to get into, and it probably doesn't hurt that it looks so good.

Nightelph - Maxed at 1920x1200? What kind of framerate are you getting? If I max everything it's not playable (consistent 40+ fps) on my system, does the quad core make that much of a difference?
