Using pc as media server.
Here's what i'm tryin' to do @ a friends place. There's a main pc in the living room with all of the media(music, movies) is there a way to stream that media to a laptop in one of the bedrooms and stream it to 2 xbox 360's that are also hooked up via ethernet? |

Should be easy peasy. Several methods. 1. Vista Home Premium (not basic) should be able to see shared folders and such. 2. Windows Media Player (not 100% sure on how on it but I know people who did it with XP) 3. Plug an external drive into a USB port on the xbox. 4. Use linux (you'll need to install a upnp server backend - took me about 40min to find and install one) 5. Get a nice router that shares an external drive (WRT610N) with all networked devices.

You just want to file share or actually stream? (Send the same file to all 3 places at the same time?) If the first, any version of windows should work with up to 10 devices on the same workgroup (think this limit might have been lifted in V/7 but not sure) Right clcik the folder/drive you want to share, slect share, and setup as desired. Real easy to do. For Xbox sharing, XP Media center, V/7 Home premium or ultimate will be required (I believe) unless you install a 3rd party app like XBMC.

You should take a look at Tversity. I use that to stream videos from my PC to my 360. Added bonus: if you stream a file that the Xbox doesn't support, Tversity will transcode it into a format that the Xbox does understand.
