deathman I would say its your mem holding you back..

I got over 15k with an 8800gt myself...

Its possible, but you running XP as well? There usually was a decent gap in performance with XP vs Vista in 06. Still trying to get my memory to go over 1000Mhz hasn't been a fun road, but now that im running less volts on them with my new board I might beable to push it further than expected.

Well, my mem is running at 1069mhz, stock timings. Deathman; whats your Vantage score?

10.6k if not mistaken. Don't have alot of time to look it up right now but I'll double check tonight. That was with 670/1075 clocks if not mistaken and 8.6 Hotfix drivers.

I can't run vantage right now since its all messed up with the 8.7 drivers. Gotta wait til 8.8's or something to fix my issue since I won't run vantage at all if my screen looks like gibberish when loading it up after a second.

I am disappointed in the 01 scores of these cards.

What would you expect? Its a CPU/Ram bound benchmark.

fresh vista x64 install with the NGO 8.7s, e8400@4050, 4870 with asus bios flash 815/1100 i pulled 15877 tonight, im happy. i know a quad would bump me 1k+ in that score.

Nightelph that seems light to me as well. I have about the same setup as Deathman. E8600 @ 4 GHz (system memory at 506 MHz) and 4850 @ 700 MHz Core, 1150 MHz Memory. 14400 3DMark 06. Note that I have not made any real attempts to optimize my score (I'm new to Vista and I'm assuming there are good tweaks like for previous OS). Waiting for a few case fans before I push any harder.

Hey Deathman what CPU voltage are you running? I'm at 1.39 Bios, 1.36 CPU-Z. Would like to push for 4.2 GHz stable (or beyond) but I'm not sure where to stop on voltage. Also, I have the unfortunate case of both temperature sensors being stuck! When I get a few more case fans (you have got to love 120 mm fan locations that can't accommodate 38 mm thick fans) I'm going to have another go at it.

i got 15,879 on my signiture specs on Vista Ultimate Bill Gates edition (can't buy that one can you ;) )

Ah, well. I'm happy with the performance in games, which is why I bought it, so no biggie.

Phenom 3dmark score

Phenom 9950 is not so bad :D 14581 3dmark 2006 at 3.2 Ghz (1.42 Vcore) with stock 4870 Sapphire Kingston Hyperx 800 555-18.

Thats low man. My stock clocked 8800GT can easily do around 12k with E8400 @ 3.6GHz. HD4870 should crush it esp with the CPU at 4ghz.

Here's a quick test for you, change the clocks on your 8800GT then run the test, watch is you only gain maybe 100 points or so. Then drop your CPU clock and watch your score drop by 1000's. then you will really see how much the videocard matters. Run Vantage and check your score, it shows the effect of a GPU much better.

Low score

I just been reading thru your posts and i think your scores are a little on the low side for the intel E8400. I am running an intel E8400 @ 3.82ghz with 8800 GTS 512 Sli and im getting P12994 in 3dmark vantage with no overclock on the gfx cards what so ever. i also can play far cry 2 on highest settings with x2 AA with a min FPS of 37. These gfx cards are just great i recomend them to anyone and you an get them on ebay now for £99. anyway back to 3dmark scores they dont meen nothing they are just scores that try to make people upgrade there components. Just run Fraps when playing a game and if you are getting anything over 40 FPS then the game is playable if your getting 60 FPS then that the best posible game play you can get.
