DS3 965P How Hot Is Your Southbridge?

Im just curious if anyone else who has the same board has noticed how hot the southbridge gets. Mine got pretty hot. Almost as hot as the northbridge. It came with a little heatsink so i replaced it with a extreme spirit II copper heatsink just like i have on my northbridge and its running a heck of alot cooler now. Im sure it helps everything else run a little cooler now without all that extra heat coming off the southbridge.

Its kinda an overkill to put a bigger heatsink on the southbridge, though it may extend the life of the chip. I cant see it helping in OCing.

I didnt put it on there to help with an oc i put it on there because that sucker was really hot and its right below my ram and right next to my pcie slot. People cool everything else on their computers that get hot. Why not on the southbridge if its throwing out alot of heat. I dont think its overkill at all if it drops my temps even just a little and makes my setup last longer.Besides i havent even began to oc this thing yet i need better ram.Right now im running PQI Turbo 533 and the cpu is running at 2.6.

Maybe overkill was not the right word... but the board was designed for it to run at the temp it was running at...

Many people put southbridge coolers on... some even put waterblocks on them. If its not to expensive, then go for it... If it makes you feel safe and sleep well at night, then the money is worth it... If you want to ask me if you should put a aftermarket heatsink on a southbridge, I would say NO...

If someone asked me to put a aftermarket heatsink on a northbridge, I would definately...

Just my opinion, many will disagree with me.
