That chip IS a bad OCer, but... why are you not pushing 3.2+ volts on your ram? That should be winbond die. Have you checked it? You may be able to hit 2-2-2-X at 250mhz (ddr500) with ease. I would look into it.

houserat you have sp AA4t ch or 1a4t bh? EDIT your post and I'll find it. When I get my venice stable I'll edit this to reflect the changes that i make.

Mods make this sticky.

changed my post to AA4T...... you can't find 1A4T in the the states.

Geko, you may have a cold boot issue like I did with two sets of ram. There is a fix to it. Check out this thread.

Extra Notes and observations:

  • - If TWCL was set to 02 instead of 01, I had to reset the CMOS. TWCL always at 01

    - Dynamic counter is best left disabled, otherwise I got massive amounts of Test #5 errors (718 to be precise)!

    - Number of errors decreased when I tuned off the full screen logo and USB. I believe disabling extra unused perephiral devices aids in improving stability

    - Data Drive strength HAD TO be set to level 2. This is a very critical parameter.

-If Twtr was set to 01/03 instead of 02, there was no BOOT.

-Setting Tref= HTT x 7.8us, rounded off to the highest value gave me stability. Still testing this theory.

SuperNade, you should be able to run 2.5-3-3-7 at the 9:10 divider, no? If not, try 2.5-4-3-7... you could also try 3.0v. They like volts. :)

Mate,

I can run 2.5-3-3-10. The reason I have 2.5-4-4-x is because I'm still shooting for DDR600 stable. O.K, I'll give you guys the preliminary update on what I'm upto. :)

I have obtained improved results with BH-5 settings, i.e drive strength's to 8 and 1 instead of 7 and 2.

These settings have helped me improve memtest stability by leaps and bounds. With the above settings (previous post) I got approximately 100+ memtest errors (#8) over 16 passes i.e 32 min. With the settigs I'm giving below, I cut down the errors to 20 :)

Latest Edit* June 12, 2005.

DDR600 and stability level 1 (SuperPi 32M) :D

 Thanx for this thread/sticky guys. I've been having a bear of a time trying to get any OS to load on my friend's DFI nF4 SLI LP. Everything in auto doesn't cut it :p

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR is what he got (on my recommendation)

Edit:I now have the 24+4+molex but not the FDD connector hooked up.

310 BIOS
PSU OCZ 45012U 450W
AMD64 3200+ Venice 939P 2000MHz
1GB Corsair TwinX 1024-3200C2 COR 2.5-3-3-8 2.7vdimm 200MHz Winbond CH-6 ?
XFX GF6600GT 128MB PVT43GND dual DVI and latest 71.89 driver.

I had to take out the bottom stick of the 2-4 dimm orange slot dual channels to get XP to load. MEMTEST86+ showed no errors when both were in but XP pro SP2 would have none of it. Even after the installation was complete, XP crashed during boot if both sticks are in. Either stick works alone in slot 2. I'll test out slot 4 alone tomorrow. I hope it's a setting issue and not a bad slot.

Edit 2: OK it looks like I might be the only one using non OCed CH-6 rated for 2.6v. Unless it's CH-5.

Would the TCCD settings <3vdimm work?

Edit 3: Well armed with that real nice DFI Street settings guide I got both sticks to run in XPproSP2. I ended up just setting the ratio to 200MHz 1/01 and dropping to 2t. That made all the differance. The rest of the settings are still auto for the most part. I still can't believe how much memory bandwidth that thing has eventhough it's not overclocked. Once the optimum settings are discovered that system will fly circles around any Intel system I've seen.

Mate,
You need to hook up the HDD power type molex. You may do without the Floppy power line. That would be required if you seek to run SLI. The HDD Molex is highly recommended or else you *may* face chipset undervolting problems. What kind of a PSU does he have?

Thanks to Hoot for stickying this :)

Do you need to hook up all 4 mobo power connectors? I only have the 24+4 hooked up but not the molex.

I'll edit this post as soon as I have something positive to report.

What kind of ram did your friend pair with this motherboard? There is ample evidence from my browsing that the DFI Nf4 motherboards are very picky concerning ram settings. By Type I am inquiring as to IC type, TCCD, BH5, CH5, Mosel, Micron, etc..

;) Spent all night trying to get these stable in memtest 5 & 8. Finally got it. Been doing some more tweaking but I think I will finally settle with these timings.

I'm not sure if I misunderstood, but are you trying to say that tRAS 3 makes 5 and 8 stable?

no...... It was the DRAM Drive Strength and the DRAM Data Drive Strength that got it stable. Once I got it to run without errors I did what I always do..... I dropped all the other timings as much as I could. Try them on your system and see what happens. The only thing you probably don't need to change is the Max Async.

OK, I threw out my POS MSI board and bought a DFI lanparty NF4 utlraD. It should be here any day -had to buy a new PSU and PCIe vid card as well. :bang head Anyhoo, I've been browsing these settings you guys are posting to kind of plan out my attack, and I see there's people posting TCL settings of 1.5! When did that become possible? Is it better to go from 2.0 to 1.5 TCL if you have to drop from a 1:1 fsb ratio?

You don't really gain in bandwidth with cas 1.5 instead of 2.0, but it does seem to help people achieve higher fsb with cas 1.5.

Got another pair of PDP XBLK's :)
