Hi all,
I have decided to become the KEEPER OF THE ABIT STICKY. My "Vision" for the Sticky is that it be a constant source of the latest and greatest info for ALL iNTEL Abit boards. This will involve constant updating and refining to make it work.

Naturally, I will need your help in determining what's worthy of being stuck so start compiling those links now. When you find something that you think should be stuck I will need you to send me a PM with your link and a description of why and where you got it.

Once I have all the usefull links and info transfered from the original sticky to this one I will have William Un-stick it. Please let me know what you think.

THIS IS THE WORK IN PROGRESS:D:

This is by no means the finished product but it gives you an idea of what I'm thinking about. Obviously there is information that is usefull to all users and not Motherboard specific. I'm trying to think of everything but I surely wouldn't mind your input.

Please feel free to reply to this post or PM me. When I finish I will tell William and he will replace the existing sticky with this one which I will be editing along the way. Also, if for any reason I get called away and cannot update this sticky in a timely manner I will inform You and William. This way the Sticky could conceivably be handed off to another.

THIS POST IS BEING CONTINUOSLY UPDATED, IF YOU REPLY WITH GOOD INFO I WILL UPDATE THIS POST THEN HAVE YOUR POST DELETED SO THAT THIS WILL STAY NEAT.

Thanks All. This will be the best Abit info site on the Web if I can help it! Probably better than Abit's, although that's not saying a whole lot.:D

I'm not sure. I just downloaded it to see if it worked and I had no problems. Try again and then let me know a little more about your situation if it doesn't work.

The BP6 has a good support site that tells you how to set up the board from scratch so you can install win2k. The site is:
bp6.gamesquad.net
It has the best bios, drivers and an instruction manual for the board so you don't have to go looking on other sites.
Hope this helps someone..... :)

setting DIP switches 1, 3 and 8 to ON on the BD7 series mobos preserves the CPU softmenu setting for FSB with softmenu disabled. it also helps alleviate cold boot problems

flaws with this trick

the FSB retained is actually the FSB set in softmenu minus 1
the softmenu voltage is not retained, which means either vid-pinning or running the highest clock you can with default vcore is needed
mod needs to be undone to change FSB speed

so far i have not tested what happens as regards RAM voltages and use of the DDR266 mode

yeah the abit boards will do just about anything the processor will allow. which is everything but change the multi, unless you do the wire trick.

Sorry, but the last time I checked this sub-forum I was seeing a lot of people happily overclocking their Abit boards. Heck, the BD, TH, and xT7 boards are being actively discussed by people enthusiastically overclocking their Abit rigs.

I just did a search (July 1st) and got 181 hits on the keyword 'overclocking' limited to Abit Intel forum. I'm sure someone managed to come up with an honest opinion that you can judge by.

Or, were you asking me specifically (which I didn't think you were)? I am not overclocking, but wanted a system that would alllow me the degree of freedom to do soon when I decided.

Ehm, the wire trick lets you change the default core voltage of an Intel P4 processor. You can change the multiplier in the BIOS, but this doesn't do anything, as the processors are locked.

hi,does anyone have the mr natual bios for the abit It7 mb..ive read acouple ppl say they were useing it,but i can't find it anywheres, since his site he took all the biosmods off it..if it exsist could someone please email mr N bios for this mb?thanks in advance

markus24638@hotmail.com

also i bought this mb a refurb from new egg,i have 2 ata 133 maxtors hooked to ide3,4 nothing on ide 1.the prob is the boot disk raid shows right ata133,the second hd shows ata33,i swicthed them around, just the oppisite..my hds are fine..

plus too im a newie when it comes to useing raid..

if i hook up ide1 and both raid hd,only one raid shows up,ata133,the other hd won't on raid,i installed the drivers,etc..not sure if the mb is bad,or im doing something wrong..

if anyone can help, just alittle,i can figure out how to use the raid..
my 12 line was down to 11.63,which is low,so i hooked a cheap power supply for the case fans, and it brung the voltage up to 11.79..its a turolinx ps 420,which i don't think is a very good psu..

but it came with the case,a cheife aluminum case..i have a ethermax 431 in my other pc,but i hate to take it out..maybe the psu tubro can't handle the load, just thought i would ask about this..any help is apreaited, thanks

Sorry, I think this sticky is sort of dead... it's now more of an archive since so many folks have switched to the Abit IC7 and IS7 series of mobos. I doubt anyone will be updating it in the furure. Post your questions in a new topic... you'll have a much better chance of someone reading it.

I just purchased an Abit IC7 MAX3 and a P4C 2.6. It is happily running at 3.2G on stock air and voltage. Memory is also a concern so don't skimp on it. Will update overclock when my water cooling rig is finished. 3.2 isn't bad on intel air. I am also pleased with the board so far. Whatever you get look for the excellent info that others are posting on all the settings that are working for them. They have helped me greatly.:D

I will start by saying that I love my NGURU AI7 board. I have been running my Intel 2.4Ghz Oclocked to about 3Ghz for about 8 months. Its been completely stable the entire time. I just upgraded my 9700pro to the all in wonder x800 XT. I am blown away by the power of this card. I read an article in CPU (Computer Power User) mag about how to tweak the services in winXp. How to safely disable all the ones that are just taking up extra processes to give windows a minor performance increase. Heres the link
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm (http://).
I made tweaked most of the settings in the services listed as unneeded. Ive been taking note of any odd behavior since i made the changes to make sure i didnt accidentally disable something i need running. no problems at all for the past three days. Today, I turn my computer on and during boot into windows it restarts. then it booted up ok. 5 min later it restarts. then it dies completely, freezes at the POST screen. All the sudden my computer is dead. cant get into the bios... nothin. i turn off all the power and unplug all the cords from the case and wait about 15 min. When i turn it all back on, it lets me into the bios none of the settings were changed, everything is set as it has been since forever. got into windows and it restarts. so i continue trying to figure out why and how this is happening. at first i was sure that it was one of the services i tweaked, then i thought.... if thats true, then what was up with the locking up at the POST. I have no idea why but i fugured out that when i clocked my CPU back to default my system runs fine. If i raise the FSB by even 5 it will restart while windows is loading. I dont know wtf is up. It cant be the services i changed cause its runnin fine now, but what the hell is up with not being able to Oclock at all. Are the two related? How could they be. I would appreciate any and all suggestions you may have.
