hi all,
im after a 24" lcd, and most of the monitors which have HDMI are only 1920*1080, not 1920*1200??
why is this?? is this if you are using the HDMI? so if i was using DVI it would be 1920 * 1200???
help please!
the reason is because 1080p HD content which is 1920x1080 therefore most people looking for a hdmi input are after 1080p content in some way via ps3 x360, bluray etc...
May I ask why you need hdmi? dualink dvi is still huge.

HDMI image quality is exactly the same as DVI. It's the same signal except DVI doesn't usually carry audio.
The reason they've been pushing 1920x1080 down our throats is the panels are cheaper to make. You won't be able to game at 1920x1200 on a 1920x1080 monitor, of course.

As long as the video card/software/monitor support HDCP, yeah it'll work.

+1 If you're going to be gaming at 1900x1200 (don't know what machine you have, nothing in your sig) then buy that and deal with the thin letterboxing you'll get when watching an HD title; 60 pixels on the top and bottom- it doesn't bother me that much.
But if you don't game at that resolution or are using this rig mostly for HD video playback, then find a 1080p monitor.

thanks - ill do my sig tonight!!!
im in the middle of builds!!!
yeah no need for 1920x1080 unless your focused on bluray. You will be completely hd ready as long as your monitor and vid card are HDCP. I almost wish I had gone with a 24" or two at 1900x1200 over this 42" at 1920x1080 rocks for movies and it has benefits in games.
As far as my E8500
Im still playing with these settings , im at 4275@ 1.357 24/7 still toying with the 4.33 but it was able to go through 6 runs of vantage with 1.365 kicked it up to 4.4 earlyer at 1.37 and it would boot but failed prime... Its a very good chip, I think I might be hitting a heat wall now... might need a push pull true :)

yeah - mines a strong chip too, even though mines C0 stepping, its still really easy to overclock to 4Ghz. Mine is stock now and has been for 3months or so - as im selling to me dad and he thinks that 4.1Ghz is going to kill it!!! - anyway, @4.1 it was at 1.385v i think i put a bit more voltage in to make sure its rock stable, i could have done it with 1.37 i think. as soon as you get them to 4Ghz they become so fast dont they!!
hell yes but because friggin arma2 I think I might get a Q9550 lol ok maybe I just have the itch... lol but win7 has kicked up performance so much well see. This was my first intel chip ever and it does rock.
