So looking at prices the cheapest I can find is just under 400 squids. Is it actually worth that much? Comes with monitor, receiver thing and a pair of glasses.

Is it worth the 400? I plan on getting it sometime anyway but I was thinking when it went under 300 quid.

How strong is the rest of the system?

q9550 overclocked to 3.4GHz
XFX 780i SLI
1x 260 GTX overclocked to 625MHz (will be upgrading to 2 in October)
2x 512MB DDR2 667MHz RAM
2x 1024MB DDR2 667MHz RAM (Might be upgrading to some 1066MHz soon)

I think that's all there is that's needed.

Might want to consider holding off until you get that second 260. Even with a 280, things bog down a little more than I would like in some games.

As far as if it works, yep, it works great. Is it worth ~$650 to you? That's in the eye of the beholder.

The game doesn't have to run at 120fps though. Just has to sync with 30 60 90 or 120fps (as far as I know or is this incorrect?)

It's the same as a normal card running under the monitor's refresh rate. If the new frame isn't done yet, the card continues to send the last one. The issue is low FPS though. Running 1680x1050x2 is almost as demanding as 2560x1600.

I'm currently running L4D on a 32" TV at 90fps. At 1680*1050 it's running at over 120fps. I would have thought that would be enough =s
