iv been looking for a way to get our homemade video collection (wedins, family reunions, bdays and all that stuff) onto DVD's (last longer then VHS plus its easy to mail copies to family members overseas) so i have been looking at some tv tuners and was wondering if they are good, or if i can get better for under 150 bucks (internal / external dont matter to me, i would just figure with internal you get better quality no?)
the 1 i have in mind right now
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 ATSC (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116033)

If you are just going to use it for that reason, you can find NTSC tuners real cheap since the digital transition was made.
If you are going to keep it and use it as a tuner for OTA or HD cable, than the one you picked is good.

haha fair nuff man... just pointing it out there... didnt kno if u just wanted some tv watching and a way to put vhs on ur comp. or more.
I still use my ATI HDTV Wonder and it works wonderfully, but for WinXP-32 only. Screw ATI and screw MS for not going the extra mile to make it work on Vista!
I've backed up video tapes onto DVD's, but would rather back them up onto Blu-rays when they get cheap enough. That way, I'd only need a couple of blu-ray discs for the entire set of video tapes.
