I'm familiar with refresh rate on crts, but i don't understand response time on lcds. is it just another way of expressing refresh rate? :screwy:

Response time is how fast the individual pixels or subpixels can change colors. It's pretty meaningless. If rated honestly they can tell you how much blur you are going to see, but really, since active matrix displays came on the scene, I haven't seen any LCD ghosting or blur at all.
Refresh rate in LCD terms refers to how fast the display can receive a signal from the source, and probably is more a function of the electronics than the actual display hardware.

I'll post up some screenshots from my 120hz LCD with fraps running and vsync enabled if anyone thinks refresh rate doesn't matter on an LCD :p

^ that right there is ****ing sexy! i love my 2209WA @ 1680x1050@75hz i cant imagine 120hz.
problem is i dont think single link dvi can do more than 1680x1050@80hz due to bandwidth reasons.

Kind of leaning toward waiting (possibly few years) to buy a reasonably priced 120hz LCD at the same res, instead of upgrading to a higher res monitor (I'm on 1680x1050). That SS 2233RZ is $410 right now which is waaaayyyy more than I'd be willing or able to pay but maybe in several years... it would be worth it to upgrade from 60 hz to 120 hz instead of from 1680x1050 to 1920/2048, right? Probably won't be able to do both at once until maybe in 10 yrs when the price is low enough.

Unless you are going to be playing in 3d or have money to burn, I'd go with a bigger screen than 1680x1050..

Here's a question while the topic is kind of fresh... and not updated in like a week..
If I put my refresh rate past 60hz, Stuff looks fuzzy to me and tends to hurt my eyes. Any one else experience this? :o

What type of monitor is it?

on a side note. the new nvidia drivers install the 3D settings for the glasses and what not. the package says you need a 120hz monitor. My Apple cinema display in windows only has an option for 60hz but i can still see the 3D perfectly. i don't get it...do you really need a 120?

I assume you are using the red/blue glasses?

Because anaglyph 3d (red/blue) shows both images at once, and color filtering determines what each eye sees. With a 120hz setup you get full color to each eye without any weird tinting.

Google for Geforce 3d Vision, there's a million reviews out there. The 120hz monitor and active shutter glasses work differently from the red/blue setup.
