View Full Version : Samsung Syncmaster T240 HD
Hey,
I have the listed 24" 1920x1200 monitor. It says it is full 1080p HD, however, does that mean for pc games too? If so, how do I use the full 1080p? How do I know it's working in 1080p?
I have it connected with DVI? Will it only work with HDMI?
Thanks.
1080p refers to the resolution you are watching the monitor at. Just set the screens res to 1920x1080 in the display properties and make sure to set that res in your games and you are now playing games at 1080p. As for TV and DvDs, if you have a Blue-Ray player in your system, it will launch the HD DvDs in full screen mode which is 1080p. The tv tuner (if you have one) should automatically scale the video if you are using a cable box on the tuner.
Thanks. I just set it to 1920x1080, however, the screen looks much better at 1920x1200. I'll have to try a few games to see what looks better. I'm thinking maybe it's because the native res. of the monitor is 1920x1200. Oh well, thanks for the answer.
I totally missed that lol. For 24" monitors the native res is in fact 1920x1200 and that is what everything should be set to. You will get the 1080p from that res as well of course. It should work in the same manner as above, but it (the HD movies or TV) may have small black bars on the top and bottom of the screen because there are less pixels in 1080p than what your monitor is pushing. Sorry about that, my fault. Yes, everything will indeed run and look ALOT better at that res.

Yea I have that monitor also but only use it as a tv, the only point of 1080p is mainly for watching tv, the xbox or ps3, or blu rau and its going to have black bars on the top unless you choose to distort the image. As a pc monitor you can choose 1900x1200 and get to use the whole screen.
Awesome. Thank you both.
A side note, why does Crysis only allow me to do 1920x1080? I have no option for 1920x1200....weird.
Thanks again.
No problem, any time.
As for the Crysis issue, I have no idea why it wouldnt show up as an option, especially since you have 2 260s going on there.

Did you move the arrow down to see more resolutions? Or maybe you have the aspect ratio at 16:9 so its not showing any 16:10 resolutions

Good point, I know thats a common problem...well not really a problem... with steam games (HL2 TF2 etc). See if you can change the aspect ration to 16:10 and it might show up.
