Like many others, I had the issue with bad capacitors. I just finished getting them all changed out, and the power issue seems to be completely fixed. Now, however, there's a problem with the picture "disappearing".
I hooked it up to both a laptop (vga) and PS2 (component). With both of connections, when I started up the the aforementioned device, the picture would show for about 1-2 seconds, then the screen would go black.
At first I though that maybe my PS2 wasn't working, so hooked up the laptop, only to see the same thing happen. When in the display properties, I could activate it as a second monitor, and set the "extend my desktop" option, and the screen would come on for 1-2 seconds, then disappear. This would repeat if I deactivated the second monitor and reactivate it (in properties).
I've taken the monitor back apart and reseated all the connections to make sure it wasn't something that simple. For the 1-2 seconds that the picture is working, it looks good, no streaks, or noticeable color issues. although it looked a bit dim. Problem is, the picture isn't on long enough to really get a sense of any back-light problems.
Can anyone think of something I could check? Keep in mind, I'm not all that knowledgeable when it comes to electronics. Other than slapping together a few systems, and doing some basic troubleshooting, anything else I do is kind of a shot in the dark.
