Need some help

I got a sammy LCD tv 46Inch think its the 550 series 1080P Im connected through vga but I cannot set display of 1920 x 1200 my video card is ati 4890 is that normal for my lcd will hdmi or dvi cable fix this or?

The max resolution for any 1080p TV will be 1920 x 1080p.

1920 x 1200 is not supported by 99% of the consumer TV's out there.
