bullet points and rambling (all in one!)
Just picked up this monitor (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9183224&type=product&id=1218049006792) and having issues.
1) When first run saw 1 pixel thick horizontal line 1" down from top. Did not notice immediately (POST, windows bbs, and desktop) Noticed after starting a game that it was there, flipped back and it was on the desktop. It was there all along I suppose but I thought it was part of the wallpaper (scaled down from 24" CRT, to a 22" LCD for about a month, then up to this, so thought I was seeing something that I did not notice before.... Have not had a chance to return it tohugh because of the line and in the meantime, the line is gone.
2) Been playing COD4 on it the last few times I have had a few minutes of "kid free time" , all settings maxed at 16:9 1920x1080 (set them down to that after changing to the new monitor) getting "tearing" in game. With fast left and right mouse movement, the display tears into horizontal bands, only really noticeable because on vertical edges, you can see that the center runs a little bit ahead or behind of the top and bottom "bands." Recall hearing the term tearing before, and do not know if it is the right term or not.
3) I am swapping out the motherboard when I have time, and installing a newer build of 7 when I do so. Without knowing when that could actually happen though is bothering me.
(Side note about my life.... I just might not have time to test out the HW/SW issue hence the question.)
Questions...
So should I just wrap it up and return it ASAP? Since I may or may not have time to do it and may miss out on the "grace period."
Moral dilemna there though, what if it is not the monitor?
Since I do not know what "tearing" really is.. is that an accurate description? Is it the monitors fault? Hell if the monitor is good and it sucks that bad I want to take it back asap...Either way, need a little input on the right course of action.
