For just web browsing, movies, and games would a S2409W be good?
Comparing specs the 2408WFP has a better brightness by 100cd/m^2, a better contrast ratio (not dynamic) by 300:1, a better viewing angle at 178º/178º, a slightly higher resolution, and a 110% color gamut. But the disadvantages of the 2408WFP is that it has more than twice the power consumption and cost of the S2409W and has a slightly worse response time.
Is the 2408WFP still worth it for my uses?

2408WFP will KICK THE LIVING CRAP out of the S2409W
2408 = 16:10 = 1920x1200 rez on good highly color accurate PVA (i think) or IPS technology
S2409W = 16:9 = 1920x1080 rez on crappy color accuracy TN technology.
with that said, do you really want to spend 600 dollars for the 2408WFP when all your going to be doing is browsing, movies and games... thats your choice. BUT if you want all the benefits of the 2408WFP (color accuracy, high viewing angles) and more like no input lag and good responce time, you should look at the dell 2209WA... its 220 bucks and is an amazing monitor... although smaller (22in 1680x1050 rez) its an awesome monitor.

What about the E248WFP (http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/monitor_e248wfp?c=us&l=en&s=dfo)? Is there any inherent problems with it besides having a TN panel (which I'm fine with)

if you can find one... dont think dell outlet has em.
just do some googling n whatnot... sounds like you want a 24incher for the higher rez i take it?

Ya I'm looking for a 24". Is 24" the point where the poorer viewing angles become noticable with TN? I'm just going to use this as a desktop monitor sitting 2-3ft away.
