I just realized that I am losing a lot of detail in the dark parts of a picture or a game.
Setting the little thing that looks like a sun (brightness) higher does not help this.
What else should I change so I can see things in dark places again. I know things should be a tad darker because this monitor has much better black levels than my crappy other monitor, but it seems to dark.
Any thoughts?
thanks

is there something on the included CD? All I get are some links to PDFs.
If it helps, I am a heavy gamer (heavy as in I game a lot... not fat), and I like photography. So accuracy is pretty important. But my main problem is that I can not see zombies very well in l4d right now. At least not as well as I used to be able to.
I also looked at a picture on both of my monitors and on my old one I could see the text of a dark sign perfectly but could not see it on my new monitor (2209wa) very well.

I just turned the brightness up a touch in Nvidia control panel from 50 to 57 and for gaming I do not seem to have the problem any more. I have yet to see if it fixes everything, but for right now all seems well.

what i would suggest is rather than changing stuff in the nvidia control pannel is installing the icc profile. then going into the control pannel and running the nvidia display wizzard, leave the monitor at 75 and 75 for brightness and contrast, and then correct the gamma on the RGB channels in the wizzard, this will produce a much better picture on top of the already steller picture that the 2209WA produces.

so I am guessing that I need to reset everything including gama that I have done in nvidia control panel, install this profile, and then adjust everything through the nvidia display wizzard? I will not be leaving the brightness at 75 because that hurts my eyes haha, I usually leave it around 0-15 depending on time of day/lighting in my room.
Should I just leave it at 75 to set it up and then adjust to comfort later?
And with that icc above, do I just open the zip and there will be an installer in there or will I have to replace something?
Thanks for the help

I am sorry, but I am really confused. What am I supposed to do? I got the zip file that gigabit posted, and I see directions in that zip to get to the service menu, but all that my monitor does is cycle through colors and then go back to displaying my desktop like normal. I never get to a menu.

You just unzip it to the desktop then install it in the Displays color management or display properties. What OS you using?

all you have to do is right click the approperiate profile (dvi or vga) and click install. then restart, reset all settings in the nvidia control pannel then run the display wizzard.

I am using XP
I double clicked the exe that was inside a few times before this should that matter? Something popped up and I am not quite sure what that is. I am away from that computer at the moment but will be near it again in an hour or so. So I will try again then.

ok I installed the dvi one.
How can I be sure that I am running under this new profile? (I am silly and messed around with things in my confusion) Does it matter that I have multiple monitors?
After I am sure that I have the new profile running then I will go through the nvidia set up again.
Thanks
Edit: I am pretty sure the new profile took, because I can see all of the levels of black on the first nvidia test image to the right of the sliders. I will be going through the set up wizard for gamma and whatever else is in the nvidia wizard.
I will post back when that is done Thanks!

I found the problem. The nvidia wizard is making me set the Gama way to low. After I went through the Nvidia wizard I could no longer distinguish between the different gray/black levels.
Now I cannot even set it back. How should I go about correctly calibrating this monitor?
Nvidia also tells me to use 0 for brightness (lower would be better)
