I really love my Sony 23", it's got 1 stuck pixel which I only notice a couple times a year. It has great colour & sharpness. However, it's a 7+ year old (at the time one of the best monitors out there) monitor and has a 50ms response time. Also in the time I've owned it, it has crapped out three times - the monitor just goes black and refuses to turn on. Once was under warranty, other two times I've sent it in to Sony for repair (~$500). It's likely that it will eventually crap out again, for the same reason. Eventually Sony might just stop even being able to fix it based on age. Lately (twice in the last 30 days) the monitor has just frozen, unplugging and replugging it in has worked (rebooting the computer has had no effect - it's definitely the monitor), but I wonder if some time it will freeze permanently.

What I'm considering is moving to a 30", but I don't want to lose the otherwise great viewing quality I've gotten used to. Anyone with a 30" that upgraded from a previously high end monitor that can give some advice as to what they have and how they like it?

While money is sort of a consideration, it isn't my #1.

I remember the monitor you speak of, that was the only model that SONY produced in the 20+ category. I have had my 24" for a few years now, and have sort of been spoiled by the real estate. While I am content with it, the newer LCDs these days are a world apart in terms of contrast and response. If you bought the 30, you would proabably be inconsolable for about 10 minutes thinking about the 23 SONY, then you would forget all about it.
