Hi guys,

So the last few days I've been trolling the net trying to figure out how to get Win98SE a Geforce 3 and a 1440x900 widescreen LCD to play nice...

I was imagining all sorts of horrors in registry hacks and such.

I installed powerstrip started messing with custom timings... this was with the old monitor connected. But no-way no-how could I figure how to make 1440x900 available...

I'd already installed the "XP" monitor driver, 98SE sucked it up without a hitch...

Installed Forceware 81 point something which was last release for GF3 support...

STILL couldn't find how to set it...

So gave up, set it to 1280x800 and plugged the new monitor in anyway, figured that when I finally get that machine switched to XP it'll work out right then...

And damn, 1440x900 came straight up in properties...

All the endless google thrashing, the listening to whiny folks demanding nVidia "do something" when their old Geforce and new widescreen LCD didn't work... rounding up pages and pages of halfbaked solutions, and it was just as easy as installing the damn drivers and plugging and praying :bang head

Some people hang onto Windows 98, because of the KISS. :D
