View Full Version : Monitor not responding right after failed cpu overclock

So I was trying to overclock my e6420 back to 3.2ghz that I had before. Log story short I never made it. It would either not get past the memory check or if I did get into the bios it would freeze. Finally got it back to default speed and now CCC no longer reports any information in the monitor attributes tab. DDC, display name, supported res/refresh all say: not supported. This is not what it reported prior to the failed overclock event.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the the display drivers and the monitor drivers. I never had the right ones to begin with. I think it always reported as pnp monitor in display properties when it did work correctly. I finally found the unsigned Viewsonic drivers that lists this monitor and still didn't fix the problem.

When I check "get the display info from the EDID" in CCC, it reports the resolution too low (1600x1200 vs 1920x1200). I have to tell it what the max is. This would not normally be a problem, but in GTA IV I get weird color saturation. All the colors are too dark. This is the only game that has a problem, as far as I've noticed.

The only thing worth noting that happened during the overclocking problems is that I twice got beeps from the BIOS telling me that I had a video card problem. Both times I hit the reset button and they went away. I've not had any problems with the video card before or after the failed overclock. No performance problems or anything that would suggest a failing video card.

I'm completely stumped on this one. I've played with the options over and over again in the CC menu and the desktop display menu. Should I reflash the bios just in case I have a bios problem? There were about 4 times that I had to reset the computer because it would freeze in the bios. I've had this happen before when I was trying to overclock, but never had this problem as a result.

Thanks for any help.

BTW, yes I did use driver sweeper every time I reinstalled the ATI drivers. This is the system in my sig and I'm running XP SP3.
