Well I am in the market for a new LCD for gaming and I have settled on a 22 inch sized monitor (currently on a 19 inch wide hanns g) For my new pc build I will need another monitor for my old pc so I am treating myself to a new monitor. I am currently torn between these two 22 inch widescreens:

ACER 139.99 AR (new egg price match with microcenter + 30$ microcenter rebate.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145

OR

Scepter 119.00 AR (microcenter special)
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0301910

I am wondering if anyone has experience with either of these monitors or can help me decide. 2ms vs 5ms etc. I think both are decent prices and saving money is good for me. Thanks for your input in advance.

Could've sworn that Morvak just picked up that Acer and really loves it. Believe he made a thread here in this section, but he might be a good one to check with for some info.

EDIT - Ah yeah, here's the thread: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=586131

Sweet, I just ordered that monitor too, and now I see I made an excellent choice. (Free shipping too!)

Shame that I got it for $160 instead of $130 :(

The Asus VW224U is another good option. It is a great LCD once you do minimal tweaking of the brightness and contrast. Games are smooth as butter, colors look good all across the screen, and i so love the 4:3 aspect ratio changer that can be setup. I play some older games, and this literally cuts the image down to 4:3 and lets you play at those resolutions without them being stretched. The only thing with my monitor is that the very bottom where my taskbar is seems to be a bit washed out compared to the CRT i used to have and used to help calibrate. This panel is 2ms, and has NO RTC errors. It is a really sweet LCD, and can be had at newegg for $189 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236050).

I ordered that Acer on Saturday and it arrived on Wed. from Newegg. Using it now and it Rocks! I like the Acer 3 year Warranty verses 1 year on Scepter
Microcenter usually sells out of the Sceptor because of the low price. I think they have After Christmas Sale on LCD.
IMO go with the Acer

Thank you all for your helpful responses!! I think I have been swayed toward the acer. It also includes the dvi cable while the scepter does not. Not a huge deal, but still annoying. Thanks for the help everyone. The Asus monitor also looked sweet but microcenter didnt carry it. (I made a pact to only order monitors in person so I can return if there are any bad pixels). The egg had me do a return in the past on a monitor so I wanted to prevent that from even possibly happening again.

If you want to step up to top quality 22" TN, I just got a samsung T220 for christmas and it is fantastic. Tested it against several other 22 inchers and it was the best looking hands down.

Other tried: HP w2207h, LG L227WTG-PF, Samsung 25somethingBW

I ended up going with the Acer 22 for 140.00 after rebate. I am very happy with it, looks crisp and no bleeding I see, no dead pixels. I thought about going 24 inch but could not justify the extra 100-ish + dollars and I am actually glad since I think a 24 inch would have been too much viewing space for my small desk, and for the game I play I am almost needing to turn my head a little when I play on my new 22. Besides as time passes, monitors will only get cheaper. Perhaps when I get a bigger desk....

Yeah I too have New 22" Monitors for myself and the Wife we got the BenQ E2200HD 1920x180p 16:9

And WOW what a difference, didnt know what I was missing, all that Real estate on the screen allot better when doing Digital Image work ect, and Games nearly jump out at you.

I'm glad you're happy with the 22" Acer, Zhut. I own the same monitor myself. I got it free with another purchase and use it with my linux box. The size is nice. I've also done some gaming on it and there's no noticeable lag. I love that it came with a DVI cable, too.

However, now that the sale has ended and the price is back up near $200, I highly recommend this alternative Asus model http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236053&PageStyle=lite&Local=y

The Asus has better colors and contrast, a true 1080p native resolution (1920 x 1080) and an hdmi input.
