I would like to know what the best Kelvin Temp. is for all around looks.

I have – 6500K, 5400K, 9300K, SRGB & Custom, Do latest LCD monitors comes with better K temps.?

My whites are appearing a little cream at 6500K and I am bad at calibrating via custom.

Also, what are the best calibrating method?

Monitor: Viewsonic VX922

Temperature is your preference really...

does it look any better at 9.3k? 6.5k?

I believe 6500k is pretty close to a neutral white, lower than that and it looks more yellow (cream as you say), higher and it looks more blue. The best way to calibrate your monitor is to buy (or rent) a monitor calibrator like the Gretag Macbeth Eye One. One of those will do everything for you, color temp included, and your whites will be perfectly neutral. You might be able to rent one from a photography supply store, or film/video supply. Calumet has several stores nationwide, but a well-stocked pro(sumer) store should be able to help you out.

6500K is the default windows color temp. As for the best way to calibrate a display, hardware calibration is superior, but pricey. I have the GMB I1 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832699001) PP mentions, and the software it comes with walks you right through everything. Blu-ray movies on my 24" look worlds better.
