I'm not sure if I should post this here, or in the windows forum, so feel free to move this topic if need be. anyway!

I've been having some trouble lately. When I set a desktop background, Windows automatically makes a small area at the top and right of my screen black (or whatever the "color" option in the desktop menu of display properties is set to).

here's a screenshot:

And it isn't just for this wallpaper; I have over 400 wallpapers (8 of which I tried just to make sure), and all of them do the same thing.

The settings for my desktop are as shown in the screenshot, on the display manager.

Thanks in advance, any assistance or even diagnosis of my problem would be VERY much appreciated, as this problem is bugging me to death.

Are you using XP?

(And Windows based questions kinda belong in Software.)

(1) Thanks for the welcome!
(2) Yes, I am using XP, I'm just using a Windows Vista Ultimate theme for XP.
(3) Sorry, I didn't know. If a moderator sees this, feel free to move the topic to software or wherever you think is appropriate.

try manually setting the Position of the wallpaper between two different modes.

i.e.

select TILE , apply

then STRETCH, apply

if the wallpaper is the same resolution as desktop, try CENTER.

If I do "Tile", it shows the top and right as the bottom and left of the wallpaper.

If I do "center", it doesn't change anything.

Stretch is what you want to fill the whole desktop.

If its not working then it could be your skinning program broke something.

Gernerally speaking stretch is what you always want.

That's what I have it on all the time, as shown in my screenshot.

And it just started happening about 2 weeks ago, so I don't think my theme broke anything randomely without me changing settings.

EDIT: I just remembered, I had spyware/a virus a few weeks ago (Which I succesfully got rid of, by the way, all traces of it are deleted from my system, I'm 1500% sure) which changed my background and said "WARNING! Your computer is infected with spyware!" Or something along those lines; it was a blue background with that message about where the Display Properties Window is in my Screenshot (Of course the error message is gone now).

Would that maybe have something to do with it?

What's the size of the wallpaper and the size of the desktop?
