I have a gateway 17" LCD monitor that has started acting up recently. It belongs to my grandparents who are well versed in computer literacy, and deemed that leaving an LCD display running non stop for more than five years straight is an excellent idea :screwy:. The first time they turned it off was when they left for Vegas, and upon returning, it hasn't worked well since. It powers up and displays an image perfectly, but after 30 seconds, it kicks itself down into standby, is if it weren't receiving a signal. Turning it off and back again alleviates the problem, but for only 30 seconds. It is a hardware only issue within the monitor, and happens on every machine I plugged it into. I tried all the basics on this one, but honestly I really have no idea what to do. Google isn't a help either. I would like to fix this monitor, but it isn't crucial. Any help is appreciated :D

Your grandparents were right!... you shouldn't of turned if off, now look!

Sounds to me like it probably is dieing, if you've tried it in different machines with a different VGA then it most certainly is the monitor... have you tried different drivers? How about the settings on the monitor, is it analogue or digital? does it have an auto setting?
