View Full Version : Looking for a 22" lcd...

I want to get an LCD monitor since I'm leaving for college in 2 weeks, and don't want to mess with my 19" crt... for obvious reasons. I'm trying to keep the price under $250, if at all possible. I'd also like it to easily support switching between two inputs/computers, but that's not too big of a deal if it doesn't. Other things I'm looking for: at least 1000:1 contrast ratio, 1680x1050 res, and hopefully somewhat decent scaling to lower resolutions.
I'll be majoring in engineering, so I'll probably be doing some design stuff on it, if that makes any difference... that's also the reason for the larger screen. I'll gladly go down to a 20" if I can get a distinctly better one for a better price though. After all, that's still bigger than my crt...

Here's some I found on Newegg that look ok:
Acer V223Wbd (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009138)
Acer V223wbmd (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009149)
Acer X223Wbd (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145)
Asus VW223T (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236039)
Asus VW222U (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236028)
Samsung 2253LW (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001271)

Any suggestions?

Is this any good?
LG W2241T (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8913367&type=product&id=1213399955168)
I can't really find anything about it... including on LG's website.
Edit: Actually it's on their Singapore website. Doesn't seem too bad...

yeah the LG FLATRON series are pretty good, 170° viewing angle... and that's a decent price, especially for BB, CC has it for $280.

The one at CC is a different model... but good to know about the Flatron series in general.

Didn't know they were different models... I found specs here for ya, still says 170° - http://sg.lge.com/prodmodeldetail.do?actType=search&page=1&modelCategoryId=050105&categoryId=050105&parentId=05&modelCodeDisplay=W2241T&model=NOTHING#

Cool.
Since I'm not having much luck finding stuff on the W2241T, I looked up some stuff on the W2242T, which is the 22" version... it looks like it only has a 700:1 contrast ratio before the dynamic contrast stuff (actually that's for the W2242T-BF, but I'm assuming it still applies). I know an Acer that I looked at with a 700:1 contrast ratio had a noticeably less "white" white than one with a 2500:1 contrast ratio, even after adjusting it.

So I guess I'll probably keep looking... :/

Sad to say.......almost all 22 inch monitors have cheap TN panels inside. I think the only ones that don't are all the Eizo's the Samsung 2263pw and the Lenovo L220x.
