View Full Version : Help me decide! 24" LCD
I'm trying to decide between these two 24" flat panels:
Samsung 245BW ($399 cdn)
BenQ G2400W ($389 cdn)
Any thoughts on which would be better? I bought the 245BW on a 14 day return policy a couple weeks ago when my CRT died, and it's been OK - but the viewing angles or lack thereof are driving me insane (move my head 2 inches and the colors all warp).
Would the G2400W be a better monitor? One thing to note is that as of right now I have no use for an HDMI input so while it's a nice feature it's not one that affects me.
Thanks!
Kylt

Today is your lucky day! :D
I will have a G2400W on my doorstep in 3 hours! :D:D
I purchases the Samsung 2232BW (22") over the weekend. I too looked at the 24" 245BW, I also noticed the viewing angles seemed more pronounced on that model. My 2232BW is far better however.
No idea on the BenQ but I can agree with you that the color wash on the 245BW is more pronounced than on some other screens.
Thideras, hows the new monitor? :P
Can anyone give me insight as to how the G2400W compares?

LOVE IT. I used it with my PS3 (via HDMI) and DVI to my computer. First thing I noticed was that the colors seemed a little more gray than usual. A little adjustment fixed that :)
The viewing angle is better than my Westinghouse and it doesn't "distort" colors when deviating from the "dead center" perspective. Overall, I like it much much more than my Westinghouse.

I'd try the BenQ, if you want a 24" samsung, the 245T is the only way to go. But the Samsung 245T will run you over 600$.
Whats wrong with the Soyo 24" 24DYLM24D6 Widescreen?
Its only 322$ (with tax)
24" WS SXGA TFT LCD
1920 x 1200 REs
1000:1 Contrast
6ms Response
500 nits Brightness
looks good to me for gaming at $322? What do the others mentioned in this thread have for $60 more dollars? Im seriously missing what $60 ish dollars more will get you. Please enlighten me!

Are the stats for each the same though? What did i miss?Just as an FYI, there is no standard to those.
Take for example fan ratings.
I could measure the DB (noise) at 2 inches, 1 foot, 10 feet or 35 feet. So, saying a fan generates 25db means nothing without where they are measuring it from. Get what I mean?
Ok i get it. I swear, without standards its hard to compare. I was thinking of getting the SOYO 24", and now i dont know what to get. I want one for under 350$ dollars, it doesnt need a hook up for bluray dvds, or anything like that, i just want the best one for under 350$. I dont know where i should look, or what to get either.

I always check out many many reviews before even considering purchasing a product ;)

Wait, are you saying that the HTIB sets at best buy with 1000 WATTS! in 200 point type aren't really 1000 WATTS! ? BTW, what's this fine print that says 'measured @ 1000hz 45% THD' ?
Well i just went with the SOYO for 322.11 with tax. A word to the wise; the office max ad say 500 nits of brightness, the box says 400 nits. Still a 24" LCD with 1900 x 1200 res, at 3ms? not bad!

The Soyo is definitely a win for the price. P-MVA 8-bit panel, beautiful color, brightness, and contrast, and minimal, if any, ghosting. For 317.00 out the door, you can't beat it! :D I just got mine and love it!
