Been weighing out buying an LCD for about 3 years now. When my folks got one I decided it was time to pony up since I built their PC and I have been kicking around a 19" CRT.

In my research I found that the prevailing choise here is the Samsung but a lot of fear over the good chance I would get one of the other 2 screens and not a S gives me the chills. Any one have any other suggestions? I see that Dell has a decent 2208WFP but it is also a TN (whatever that means). It does have a leg up on the Sammy though with tilt, swivel and height adj.

Any suggestions with reasons would go a long way to me dropping the change on this over the weekend. I game on it and used to do a lot of proofing in a past job so I can tell bad color when I see it. You can only stare and Pantone charts for so long and not get when something is wrong.

I've owned this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116059&Tpk=vx2235wm) one(viewsonic vx2235wm) for over a year now. I LOVE it. Just ordered my 2nd along with a 3870x2. Thats my pick.

Peeked at the one on the interweb. Not a big fan of speakers on monitors. Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone else have a pick?

I also Wiki'd TN cause I always forget about Wiki. Its a shame there aren't much better quality builds at this price point.

I got a 22" Acer flat screen at Best Buy a few months ago for $179.99. I know Microcenter had the same one for $219.99 about a month ago. I love mine.

I have 2 Samsungs, a 17 regular and 20 inch widescreen, I love them both.

For 22" LCD under $300 there's no other logical option than the Samsung 226BW.

Um, just because it has speakers in it doesn't mean you have to use them.

Yeah I guess... I think i might go with the Samsung and play the odds.
Anyone else have any good suggestions for an alternative?

Any tips on how to get the beast from a vendor without having to do the rebate dance for a nice price like Newegg's $279.99 after rebates and still get a great vendor experience?

My 226bw (samsung made) I really liked.. except for the viewing angles that affect all TN displays (usually given away by a viewing angle of '160°'). I just sold mine and a 19" sammy for a 24" BenQ.

Another vote for the 226BW. Excellent 22" monitor.

Office Max often puts this 24" Soyo monitor reg. $400 on sale for $300.

http://www.officemax.com/omax/catalog/sku.jsp?skuId=21361009&searchString=soyo+24&displayBreadCrumb=null&_requestid=1933857

It was $250 on Black Friday. You can often find OM coupons for $50 off $250 that will work with this as well.

I ordered the Samsung from the egg. We will see if I have any luck. Anyone find a better stand for it?

Just got my second Viewsonic. They must have changed it, because it says 2ms on the box. Anyway, I'm more than happy w/my non-tn displays.

How is the new 2ms viewsonic compared to the old 5ms one, do You notice any difference?
It's my 3rd option after Samsung 226bw $397 Aus, Benq x2200w $369 Aus, viewsonic is $325 Aus

The new one is a little brighter, but they seem the same as far as speed goes.

Anyone have any luck finding a better stand for the Samsung. I checked the Egg and they only have mult monitor setups or wall hangers.
