Kind of hard to explain, I tried taking a screenshot but it doesn't show up. Say you go to Google and search for something. The text on the screen just doesn't look right. There are like waves on the screen of where the text is slightly darker and bolder. They're effected by the monitors "coarse" and "fine" settings, but I can't get a happy medium.

It looked fine before I swapped hardware/OS. The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 712n. I recently upgraded to am 8800GTS and Vista Ultimate from a 8600GT and XP. The auto adjust feature on the monitor before use to work, but now it doesn't fix it. Looked fine before, just doesn't look right now. All the drivers for everything are up to date. It's driving me insane. Any ideas?

Sounds like it isn't auto-adjusting correctly, try it a few times. Try another cable or another input (DVI if you have it!)

Yeah, I pushed the button like 30 times with no luck. And that's just about what it's doing, not auto adjusting right. It was doing if fine a little over a week ago before I swapped video card and O/S though =(

The monitor is a few years old (3 maybe?) so it doesn't have DVI, it's hooked up through a VGA>>DVI connector to the 2nd DVI port on the 8800GTS as it's a 2nd monitor. Are there any kind of 3rd party tuning pieces of software that would be able to help?

Also, make sure you are running the native resolution for the monitor.

Are there any kind of 3rd party tuning pieces of software that would be able to help?Since this is not a software issue, no. All I can suggest is messing with the settings in the monitor (refresh rates, vertical hz, horizontal hz, etc). My best guess is the horizontal hz is just a hair off.

Also, make sure you are running the native resolution for the monitor.Good point, that would cause issues similar to this.

Refresh rate was fine, but I reset the image which made it look absolutely horrible, but then one press of the auto adjust button brought it back to normal, and looks fine now. Thanks :)
