Looking to buy one of these soon for my soon to be HTPC and am seeing them for sale all over the place. It's a big purchace that I've heard a lot of people getting ripped off at when trying to aquire and was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy one for under $3000 including the shipping that isn't going to just take my money and run?

Just search Amazon for the model number. There's one for $2600 + $69 shipping, IIRC. Rainbow Appliance I think is the vendor. If you pay through Amazon's cart, you are pretty well protected if they try to screw with you.

Follow up: I called just to check the price and see if they had it in stock, the guy said 'wow, that's a mistake, I'd lose about $300 selling it at that price' and suggested buying it from Butterfly Photo.. Bleh.
edit: Rainbow pulled the listing.
I'd pay the extra cash and get the thing from Crutchfield, just for the peace of mind. Sears has a sale ATM as well, they have the 52D82 model for $3000, and a Sony 52" 1080p LCD for $2400. Toshiba 52" 1080p LCD $2250.. Not too shabby.. I've seen Sharp sets before, didn't do much for me. Why ya decide on that brand?

Er, ghosting is kinda a past issue IMHO. I haven't seen a LCD do it in a long while. Even my cheapie 1080p set looks great, and thats with an analog VGA connection, even. As for the DVI in, you don't really need it. DVI->HDMI cables are pretty cheap and work just as good.

Would that cause an issue with HDCP if/when I get a blueray player for my pc, that it wouldn't have audio over the hdmi?

You are actually going to use the built in speakers on the TV?? Never heard of someone doing that

For a while heh, don't plan to forever, but I don't know a lot about HDCP and didn't know if the hdmi having missing audio channels would effect playback as the encryption program might pick it up as something mischevious. /shrug
Currently using a 2407wfp from dell for my monitor, think it does a great job, just wanting to make my computer into a HTPC and gaming system, so wanting 52" lcd that is as good of quality for watching movies and gaming on, as well as HD cable broadcasts. Everything I've read is that the lc-52d92u is the best for this aside from some having banding issues (from what I can tell not all have this issue) I've not had a lot of experience with lcd's as this monitor is my first one so just having to go on what everyone is saying to try to get what I need.

You really need to go a look at some TVs. Best Buy, Sears, whatever is near you. Reviews don't tell you what's gonna look best to YOUR eyes.

I've seen a lot in the stores but not the variety that are available to buy online and they don't tend to be the ones everyone claims to be the best out there either.
not to mention looking at them in the store isn't going to show me how they look when hooked up to a pc or highdef gaming console or if it will have any compatibility issues when trying to hook it up to a pc
