I'm out of my element here, since I normally don't do much on the video side (other than hook'em up and play 'em). But I have a plasma screen that has had the tv inputs removed (that entire board is missing), so now I only have RGB, DVI and RS-232 available.

This makes it easy to use as a computer monitor, but how do I connect it to the Cable TV box which has component (or is it composite?) output (red, yellow, white)?

The plasma is a VeiwSonic VPW425

DVI > Component

Might be something along that line.

If its Red yellow and white, then its composite not component.

its composite ;) And unless you want black and white, you will need to buy a converter as james said with his non specific link ;) lol
Composite is really only yellow, you know the white and red are audio and on component the wires are red blue and green so they all handle one color each and unlike composite they have all three for video :)

Cable TV box is confirmed to have output jacks of Red White Yellow.

TV has RGB or DVI inputs.
