I am potentially looking for a new monitor, 24inches or greater.
Use will be for gaming mostly.
I have a Samsung 226 BW, which I will switch over to my benching rig when I get the new monitor.
What are everyones recommendations for a 24" or bigger and why?
Thanks :D

well, 24" or bigger is a pretty open set of requirements, do you have a budget?

Also what type of panel were you looking for?

I found a pretty nice site for comparisons.
Pricegrabber.com has really nice searching features.
For example, grabbed a few 28" monitors for comparison (http://computers.pricegrabber.com/flat-panel-lcd-monitors/p/37/compare/page_id=37/masterids%5B%5D=60858014/masterids%5B%5D=39392984/masterids%5B%5D=48689862 (http://computers.pricegrabber.com/flat-panel-lcd-monitors/p/37/compare/page_id=37/masterids%5B%5D=60858014/masterids%5B%5D=39392984/masterids%5B%5D=48689862))
Some of the more expensive ones I've been looking have speakers / USB / HDTV support / S video etc. If you don't want any extras like those you can pickup a pretty cheap 24".

No specific preference on type of screen, but a CRT would not be ideal due to extreme size and weight.
Budget.......ehh......Lets say $800ish.
Just completely new to monitor shopping. Last one I bought on a whim and got super lucky bc I bought the 226 BW and lucked out on the S panel.
This time Id rather research it some, and I figured gathering opinions would be a good place to start while I websearch reviews/etc.....
Any input appreciated :D

Check these out,
Three 24-inch models emerge as reviewer favorites in this size group. The best and most expensive is the BenQ FP241W (http://shop.consumersearch.com/benq_fp241w/linkin_id-7000712/sf-1/pid-36828167/NM-30/ND-30/VA-5/OP-w132) (*est. $730) (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GOUEAQ?tag=csfstext-20&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=B000GOUEAQ&creative=373489&camp=211189) . It is directly compared with the leading competitors in reviews: the Samsung SyncMaster 244T (http://shop.consumersearch.com/samsung_syncmaster_244t/linkin_id-7000712/sf-1/pid-30847015/NM-30/ND-30/VA-5/OP-w132) (*est. $870) (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BYSUQ6?tag=csfstext-20&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=B000BYSUQ6&creative=373489&camp=211189) and Dell 2407WFP (http://shop.consumersearch.com/24-inch_dell_2407wfp/linkin_id-7000712/sf-1/pid-32877955/NM-30/ND-30/VA-5/OP-w132) (*est. $675) (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NKU5H0?tag=csfstext-20&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=B000NKU5H0&creative=373489&camp=211189) .
The reviews talk about anything between 24" and 30" isn't that great (25, 26, 28" etc) and 30" is probably out of your 800$ price range. If I was going to buy a 24" I'd go with one of the three listed there, they look very solid.
But if you want a 30" check out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001098&ATT=24-001-098&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me&nm_mc=OTC-d3alt1me&cm_mmc=OTC-d3alt1me-_-Monitors+-+LCD+Flat+Panel-_-SAMSUNG-_-24001098
Edit - The links are bad, but the model #'s are correct.
