Blu-Ray & Samsung 226BW

I have a 22" 1680*1050 lcd monitor and was considering an internal BR player for my computer. Will movies be played at 720p with black bars on the sides and top/ bottom of the image, or will the video card 'up-convert' the image to use most of my screen? Any recommendations on players?

Like with any video media on a computer, when you hit fullscreen/fit to screen it will either upscale or downscale to have minimal black bars as long as the media player of choice can read the aspect ration properly.
