I just got a new Samsung SyncMaster 226BW from newegg and its awesome. Now ive been looking around and I found out that it could play as a HDTV for my Xbox360 ELITE.

Now what do I need to buy in order to make this work?

Also what is the best to use? VGA or DVI my monitor has both.

What are my options in order to get this up and running? I would love to have this new Samsung monitor playing my Xbox360 games.

Thanks a lot for any information.

If you buy the vga adapter colors can look washed out if you don't correct the black level.
If you use HDMI you will need to convert the signal to DVI (monoprice has converters for an excellent price). To get sound you will need to do a little work. First get your component cables and break open the little plastic box around the end of the bundle. You can do this with a screw driver. Now insert the component cables into the 360 like you noramlly would. Now you can use the HDMI and the opitcal or RCA sound. You can hook up either of your audio options to your computer and play the sound through your headphones or computer speakers.

If you need more information on the exact details of this I can point out some places on the web or provide pictures of my setup.

I plan on using the HDMI so ill need to go the DVI route.

Im going to try to google some more information about it and see what I can come up with.

If you have the links handy I could check those out also.

Thanks a lot z0n3

I recommend going to monoprice for your HDMI cable as well as the converter.

Well I have the Xbox 360 elite and that came with a HDMI cable.

Is there anymore information on this converter? I don't really know what im looking for. There are a lot of different converters on monoprice. Is there anything for that?

Thanks

Just a basic HDMI>DVI adapter is all you need. Nothing particularly fancy about it.

Alright sweet so this will be all the hook ups.

My monitor the Samsung 226bw with the DVI Male to HDMI Female adapter like this ....

then my HDMI to the adapter to my xbox360 elite.

So that is all good. But now what about sound?
