I just connected a 3rd monitor to my system and I am enjoying the extra desktop space. Right now I have all my chat, email, vent stuff on my right monitor, main app on my center, and music and system resources info on my left. It's great. I will probably go w/ a 4th monitor soon since this is so much fun. Granted these are all 19inch CRT monitors that I'm getting for cheap but I'll eventually go w/ some flat screens.

Three CRTs? That's a lot of watts to burn just for the convenience of having all that crap open at once :)

I use two laptops and one 24" LCD shared between them at work, otherwise just one monitor is fine at home.

2x21" CRTs and one HDTV DLP Projector and there's nothing like the convenience of lots of live desktop space.

3 LCD, via 2 Quadro FX560 PCI-E:

Power consumption with LCDs is negligible; productivity is greatly enhanced with the additional desktop space. 4 seems to be a awkward number, since there is no "center" screen.

The right three are on my main computer (2 video cards) and the left one is on a linux box.

I use 1-2 for my main rig (depending on if I want a change for my room style or not) and I use my laptop as well. Shouldnt this be given a poll?

Thideras that is the kind of desk that I need. Mine is only big enough for one monitor :(.

2 19" 4:3 LCD's. I haven't tried 3 yet, but I'd be better not to, it gets too costly when you upgrade to bigger monitors if you have more than one to replace.

I found a 4lbs hammer tends to get my old 15inch monitor working when it's on the fritz. Wish this was a joke...

you can try this, i use Virtual Desktop Manager on my machine and my work pcs...its quite handy to keep everything organized

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

right hand side, look for deskman.exe

once installed, right click on your task bar, select toolbars, and the manager will be listed... once running, you have other options to configure by right clicking on the MSVDM button

One 24" LCD i used to run 2x19" CRT's. Im currently looking for a second 24" or maybe even considering 24"+ two 20" lcd's

Depends on the LCD. It's weird how they vary. My 20.1" Samsung at home only eats 35W, whereas my 24" at work eats 95W! 3X more wattage for a small increase in size.

I've noticed that around 24" is where the power consumption jumps quite a bit. I understand they're bigger, but compared to my 4:3 20.1" screen the 16:10 24" screen is only about 20% bigger.

Anyway, either is better than 120W+ CRTs, especially considering that so much of that energy is wasted as heat and emissions due to inefficiencies in the technology.

2 24" screens. I was thinking about getting a matching 20" 4:3 screen for the middle too, but it probably isn't really needed haha.
