I have a CRT monitor and I have this strange slowdown when playing games. It is kind of hard to explain but its like a micro stutter, jerky movements and slowdown.
I know that the PC is'nt the problem as i've tested other PCs on the same monitor (which is my only monitor) and the problem still exists.
So my question is , could a faulty monitor (be it a kinked cable / bad circuit /Bad adapter to pc or anything else ) cause this strange stutter/jerkiness.
I have tried monitor settings such as native resolution / vertical sync etc with no success.
The monitor is a Mitsubish 930sb .
The problem is driving me crazy and i can only see that it could be the monitor, and one thing that i did notice is that the monitor had been sitting on the cable leaving it badly kinked.
So could the problem be the monitor ?

well if it still does it when connected to other computers you can only assume its the monitor

Yes I know that just trying to clarify its actually possible for a monitor to do that.
Could still be some software issue as both computers have common software.

What game?
What are the specs on the two computers tested?
Does it always happen at the same spot in the game or when their might be more intensive scenes with lots of characters on screen?
Doesn't sound like a typical monitor type problem to me. More like a graphics problem. More info will help ;)

oh and BTW :welcome:

Well 2 pcs i have tested .
First PC is P4 3.4 w Hyper Threading and 7800GT 2GB RAM
Second PC is Intel Core 2 e6600 with 8800gts 2GB RAM

Happens in all games (doom3, quake4, unreal 2 , return to castle wolfenstein) and does seem to get worse when things are moving on screen.

I don't have other monitors as i've just replaced each computer in turn.
Obviously there are different drivers on each.
The problem just seems very strange it happens in all situations but does seem to get worse when there is action on screen. Its like very bad tearing or something , things get very jittery and unsmooth.
All systems are running Windows XP with SP2.

For example is it possible it could be electro-magnetic interference or in the past its had too much interference and has gone bad.

Try another cable. Other wise get a new monitor.

I googled Mitsubishi 930SB
(diamond pro right?)
Every web page i pulled up had a review and every one described why the monitor was junk. I am sad to say, but after reading 8 reviews on different sites, I have come to the conclusion that your monitor may be a piece of junk.
:clap:Congrats:clap::clap:

Running the resolution too high could be lowering your refresh rate (Hz).

I can't stand anything below 75Hz myself and keep my CRT's running at 1600x1200 even though they can go higher.

I have tried monitor settings such as native resolution / vertical sync etc with no success.
CRTs do not have a "native resolution".
