Trying to make more space on my desk I decided to put my pc base box directly under my LCD monitor. But now the question is is the constant vibration of my monitor going to mess anything up in my monitor?

I do not listen to music everyday while on my pc, but if I do, I use a lot of bass.

If I'm interpreting correctly, you're referring to your subwoofer being directly under your LCD.

To my understanding, it shouldn't be a problem as long as the display is sufficiently sturdy and stable. That said, it's also largely dependent on just how violent the vibrations are. If they're sufficient to be noticeably vibrating the display, I'd heir on the side of caution and move it.

It would definitely be a bad idea if it was a CRT - subs use big magnets, big magnets distort CRT's; LCD's aren't affected however. The weight on the sub might be an issue for any display type though. I'm not sure how much of an effect it would really have (not an acoustics expert, just guessing now), but the added stress to the structure of the sub could be bad.

Of course, you could just as easily avoid such concerns entirely and place it somewhere else (under the desk seem to be popular).

Yes, correct, the Subwoofer.

The SW is sideways with the hole pointed in the front. I do not see any noticable vibration of the monitor, though of course the whole desk shakes a little. It is for PC's so it is not that strong, bout 1300W I think. I cannot remember.

Yes, I know on the floor or other place would be better, but I dont have a lot of space and I still need something to prop up my monitor those 8 inches or so.. and the box works jsut great for that. haha

wow, i dont think you mean 1300w...thats more powerful than MOST peoples Home theater setups...i use my 2 subs as my footrest..the only thing i would be worried about in your situation would be if it vibrates enough to make the LCD fall... aside from that i dont see a problem with it

Shouldn't cause issues with the LCD other than vibration and maybe magnetic fields. You can put a subwoofer anywhere in the room and not get any difference in sound. I would *not* use one for a monitor stand. If you want to save desk space get a wall or table mount arm to hold the LCD. I'm looking at one over at buy.com. Will look nicer than the phone books I use now. Not a high priority for me.

Shouldn't cause issues with the LCD other than vibration and maybe magnetic fields. Magenetic fields do not interfere with LCD's ;)

Maybe it's not 1300W, that is what the box said, but I have my doubts it is that strong though. But it is good to know nothing will harm the lcd monitor. I try to keep the base low while the monitor is turned on at the very least, but probably I should find a better alternative then what I have now.

Thanks all!
