My second monitor appears to be having some issues. Random text appears to be bold, other text appears lighter, and I have horizontal lines swirling across the screen. I increased the frequency from 60hz to 70hz and it got rid of the lines for the time being, but the bold text in random locations is still there. Here is an example of what I see.

"haha yea I Don't know what is up with this crap"

Which letters appear lighter and which ones appear darker appear to run down the monitor in vertical lines. If I drag something from left to right, the vertical text changes colors right on a steady line.

Any ideas? The DVI port on the monitor died so I have to use the VGA port currently.

IT is a BenQ FP93G-X

Current fixes I tried, turning it off and then on.

Auto adjusting appears to make the lines move from left to right (I can tell by the color changes on the webpage in the text) and then settle in a certain position.

Rebooting.

Disabling the monitor in the drivers and then re-enabling them.

Reinstalling video drivers.

Should I just start the RMA process or do you guys have any other suggestions?

I changed the cable and messed with it a little bit, but that didn't help. I also set the monitor into the primary port on the video card and disabled my other monitor but the problem still persists. I believe this is a hardware issue and I just need to get it repaired.

Sounds to me like you eliminated all the possible problems and are left with the monitor as the culprit. If your still within warranty, RMA, since there isnt anything else I can think of to test.

Ya you tried everything I could think of except... try plugging in your primary monitor into the 2nd port on your GFX card using the VGA adaptor? Just to be absolutely sure. Otherwise sounds like your monitor is hooped. What model of monitor is it anyways?

Sound like your cables aren't on right or you're using poor quality ones. Are you using extensions?

I'm make sure your cables are making good contact first.

Changed the cable with the one I use on my primary monitor and also used a brand new DVI->VGA adapter. Same issue.

I tested the monitor on the VGA port of an x800 video card with no adapter, same problem.

I wrote a letter to BenQ asking for a RMA because my newegg warranty was only 30 days. Manufacture warranty is supposed to be 3 years and it is about 11 months old, so we will see how this goes.

edit: no response from BenQ ove a 2day period using their website for the RMA process.

Weak.....

edit: got a response (generic) stating they couldn't help me over email and I have to call their 1800 number.

Maybe it's just me but 3 business days (5 days total) is pretty weak to have a generic reply back. I guess I will call them tomorrow and see what happens.
