View Full Version : Help me buy a new LCD
I've got a crappy 19" LCD right now so I want to upgrade. I need something for internet, word processing, etc., but I'll also be playing WoW. I want something bigger than 19" - widescreen is fine. I'm looking at

Its a good deal and a nice monitor, but I'd be willing to spend up to $300, so I've been looking at 22" LCDs. I found this:

which is supposed to be an amazing LCD, but is it worth the money?
I could get this one:

which seems great and its $50 cheaper. Anyone have any experience with any of these?

Look at the HP 22inch. Glossy, and the stand is fully adjustable.
The HP looks nice but its also a tad bit more than I'd want to spend. I'm also not keen on the glossy since the glare on my non-glossy monitor is pretty bad already.

kayson,
If you are looking for a 20" WS monitor you'll find many posts on OCF about the Dell2007WFP. A fantastic panel at a reasonable price. Some OCF members have bought them as refurbs from Dell for a smokin deal, with no complaints.
The 2007WFP comes in 2 flavours, S-IPS and S-PVA. Both are superior to the links in your OP. You can't really pick what you get, and these days it looks like Dell is shipping mostly S-PVA.
Note that 22" panels are most likely TN panels which do not compare in colour and contrast to S-IPS or *-PVA.
In any case please do not let low response times as reported by manufacturers sway your decision. The 16ms reported by Dell is probably the most honest and no-one on OCF has reported any ghosting probs while gaming or watching movies.
Cheers
At $339 before shipping the 2007wfp is out of my price range. I ended up getting the Samsung 226BW. It had great reviews everywhere and I managed to snag it for $280. If I don't like it I can always return it.
Forgot to add that I'm not terribly picky about color and contrast, so the TN panel won't be a problem.

The Samsung is not bad, but I would personally not own any more TN's. On the same note congrats on the LCD. Just hope yours is okay on light leakage.

I hear the 226BW is pretty good. Congrats and have fun!
