View Full Version : 205BW not showing 1650x1080?
I have a 205BW with my signatures rig. I want to be able to show it at the rated max res of 1650x1080, but the max windows shows is 1024x768. I can force 1680x1050, but when i do, the LCD says its still at 1024x768 and the screen gets spanned, where i move the mouse to the end and it scrolls the screen that way. I installed the driver from samsung but it had no effect.
This is my first higher-res screen i have ever had, is this normal? i mean i thought it should be able to show 1680x1050 on the full screen, not making it scroll the screen.

Check the nVidia drivers and settings as well.

Hmm, maybe ill have to install different drivers, the ones installed are the ones that came on my EVGA setup CD.
Recommend any known best drivers?
Oh and BTW, i am trying to force the 1650x1080 in the nvidia driver settings.

It sounds like you need to tell the computer what kind of monitor you have. It doesn't have the driver, so it defaults to those resolutions. Look around for some drivers or force it to a different one.

He installed the Samsung drivers for the monitor. I don't think it's windows not having the driver, unless it's a busted driver.

yeah, i already installed the Samsung drivers for the monitor. I also changed drivers also.

could it be the LCD?I doubt it.
When you go to this location, what does it say:
Right click desktop, properties, last tab, advanced and then the monitor tab.

i dont know where in the nvidia settings it would be, but in ATI settings.. there is a 'display' tab that has a scaling feature in it might try something like that

if i change that, i get a messed screen, as if my card is artifacting :(

Anyone have this problem?
I got a 205BW here, never had a problem like this on my Desktop... However when I run my laptop (Radeon 9600 32MB... lol) on it, it only goes to 1280x1024...
btw, the max resolution of the 205BW is 1680x1050

Do a full video card driver reinstall. Uninstall, run DriverCleaner in safe mode, then install the newest drivers off the NV site.
I FOUND THE ANSWER!
I just updated my drivers to 162.18 and when I tried to scale my resolution back up to 1680x1050 it wouldn't let me go up that high. So I looked on google for a little while and found someone's "solution".
I'm going to give the link, however, it should be noted this is not what i did.

While i was going to try and find where I could create a custom resolution, I stumbled upon the "Change flat panel scaling" menu in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Once there I saw that the Current Resolution setting was set to 1280x1024, yet it recognised that my Native Res was 1680x1050. So i pressed the Change to Native Resolution Button and it worked! (I also changed the setting from using built in scaling to using NVidia Scaling... though i checked it after I made that change with the display's Scaling and it worked still :)).
EDIT:Sorry no fix for him, though it might help others!
